HUDSON CITY CONSULTING LIMITED LIAB is hiring a Shop Belt Fabricator / Utility Field Service Technician. You will fabricate conveyor belts from bulk roll stock, cutting to finished dimensions and splicing belt ends in the shop.

After training, you will travel to customer sites to install and splice belts, with overtime and field service duties. A strong commitment to safety and quality is essential, with a 40-hour week plus overtime as needed.

Job description

We are currently hiring a Shop Belt Fabricator / Utility Field Service Technician. This position is temp-to-perm with full-time employment opportunity for the right candidate.

Position Overview

We are looking for a motivated individual to fabricate conveyor belts by cutting and preparing materials from bulk roll stock to finished dimensions. This position involves manually cutting belts using knives and straight edges, with machine-assisted fabrication processes, and operating various equipment used to prepare and splice belt ends. Quality is our top priority. Orders must be carefully inspected throughout each stage of production, and all completed products undergo a final quality inspection by the supervisor before shipment.

In addition to shop fabrication, employees will provide service in the field when needed at customer's site.

Training

Comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided. New employees will work alongside experienced team members, learning shop and field procedures through hands-on training until they can confidently perform tasks independently.

Following successful completion of the probationary period, employees will begin traveling to customer sites to install and splice conveyor belts. This includes transporting equipment, setting up work areas, and performing installations while adhering to both company and customer-specific safety requirements.

Essential Functions and Qualifications

Work at heights and in physically demanding positions, including kneeling, crouching, bending, and working in confined or awkward spaces, particularly during installations.

Work a standard 40-hour work week, with overtime as required.

Maintain a valid driver's license.

Pass a pre-employment drug screening.

Lift and carry up to 75 pounds.

Accurately read and use a tape measure (metric measurements are used regularly).

Safely operate hand tools and perform hands-on fabrication work.

Travel for customer installations after completing training.

Wear required personal protective equipment, including steel-toe or composite-toe safety boots and safety glasses.

Additional Requirements

Availability to work overtime, evenings, weekends, and non-standard business hours when necessary.

Safety glasses are required at all times in designated areas.

Employees will receive a $100 safety boot reimbursement after successfully completing the probationary period.

Field Service Responsibilities (10-20%)

Field service work includes the installation and splicing of conveyor belts at customer facilities. Most jobs do not require overnight travel; however, occasional overnight stays may be necessary depending on customer location and project scope. (Hotel stay and meals would be paid for in addition to having travel time to and from customer sites considered working hours).

Service work may be scheduled during normal business hours or outside standard operating hours.

Employees performing work beyond normal business hours will receive overtime compensation. Work performed on Sundays is compensated at double-time pay.

An additional 30% of base paid by entering "Field Service" during hours worked out of the shop.

Compensation

Hourly Pay: $21-$24 per hour
