Job summary

Silgan Plastics in Ohio is seeking a Forklift Operator to move goods safely, read safety rules, operate fork and clamp attachments, and handle inbound/outbound shipments.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, the ability to obtain a forklift license, good math and grammar, and the capacity to lift up to 50 lbs. You will work in a fast-paced environment, maintain inventory accuracy, and support other departments as needed.

• Assist other departments as needed.

Job description

• Operate a Forklift in a safe and responsible manner
• Read and understand all operational and safety rules and guidelines provided during forklift license training.
• Operate both fork and clamp attachments
• Transport finished goods and raw materials as directed
• Load and unload semi-trailers and complete the necessary paperwork and communications as directed
• Understand and use all scanning equipment required to perform job
• Maintain and update status of inventory information through scans, written or logged as necessary
• Lift and carry containers as needed
• Lift and carry packaging such as pallets, shrink-wrap etc. as needed.
• Communicate in a professional manner with supervisor, coordinators & co‑workers as necessary.
• Assist other departments as needed
• Perform other duties as directed.
• Evaluates and takes appropriate action to maintain a safe work environment with established standards and guidelines.
• Inspect work areas and look for unsafe acts/conditions.
• Effectively use verbal and written communications.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Perform sweeping cleaning, sorting duties as necessary.
• Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and procedures.

EDUCATION

Required: High School Diploma or GED equivalent

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (if applicable)

• Obtain or be able to obtain a forklift driver’s license
• Possess proficient mathematic and grammar skills
• Able to lift and load containers of boxes as required up to 50lbs
• Good verbal and organizational skills
• This position requires the cognitive and mental ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment with attention to detail.
