Job summary

Allegiant in Las Vegas is seeking a Supervisor of Shipping, Trade & Logistics to lead international trade compliance, hazmat, and logistics across the Stores Department and all GSE Asset shipments, guiding analysts to optimize costs and negotiate with vendors.

The role ensures timely invoicing, monitors spend, develops controls, and collaborates with FedEx, DHL, freight forwarders, and Sterling to maximize savings while maintaining compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in material or inventory management.
  • Knowledge of shipping, logistics, import/export, hazmat, logistics, or stores operation.
  • Authorized to work in the US as defined by the Immigration Act of 1986.
  • Must pass a Criminal Background Check.

Responsibilities

  • Arrange, guide and assist AOG Desk, GSE Manager, Maintenance and OCC in making the appropriate shipping arrangements based on requestor timeline and keeping in mind the associated cost.
  • Develop and maintain import/export controls to ensure regulatory compliance by all suppliers and Stores personnel.
  • Supervise and arrange transportation and logistics for oversize and expedited material, parts & GSE Assets.
  • Administer training for Shipping & Logistics Analysts and perform regular audits to ensure effectiveness of trade compliance processes and expenditures.
  • Guide and supervise centralized import and export functions for material movements (MRO/Line MX Bases).
  • Maintain and monitor trade compliance records in accordance with regulations along with Shipping & Logistics Analysts.
  • Determine and assign HTS, Country of Origin, and ECCN classifications for aircraft material.
  • Work with the company’s shipping broker to ensure quick and accurate import Customs clearances.
  • Manage, review and consolidate freight and courier rates with suppliers to reduce costs.
  • Oversee hazmat and life limited storage program at all stores location and associated shipping requirements. Conduct audits on monthly basis of the hazmat and LLP program for compliance and accuracy.
  • Coordinate with Stores department for hazardous waste and environmental compliance programs within the Stores Department for their removal.
  • Prepare Logistics and Shipping reports for the senior management review for monthly review and assessment of trends in cost and volume.
  • Receive, review and authorize all invoices received from shipping vendors, including GSE asset related invoices by entering in the system for payment authorization.
  • Identify the opportunities to continuously streamline the shipping process and find ways to reduce cost by proactively negotiating and planning for all parts, tools, other equipment and GSE assets movements.
  • Maintain the third party shipping company’s generated data within Allegiant IT network properly.
  • Guide and supervise any GSE shipments for new asset purchase and GSE asset movements for the operational needs. Maintain tracking of all parts, tools, engine, kits and GSE movements and receive dates and communicate with GSE and operational teams as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director Stores or VP Procurement.

Summary

The Supervisor of Shipping, Trade & Logistics is responsible for activities related to the international trade compliance, hazmat, and logistics programs within the Stores Department and all GSE Asset Shipments to support the operations. Furthermore, the Supervisor will guide Shipping & Logistics Analysts to properly review and analyze the ongoing trends in shipping and logistics to manage the expenditure properly and will engage the service providers (FedEx, DHL, Freight Forwarders, Sterling, etc.) to re-negotiate the contract to maximize the cost savings. The Supervisor will ensure that all invoices are processed in timely manner by Shipping & Logistics Analysts and resolve any discrepancies by working with the vendor and accounting team.

Minimum Requirements

Combination of Education and Experience will be considered. Must be authorized to work in the US as defined by the Immigration Act of 1986. Must pass a Criminal Background Check.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree
Education Details:In related field
Years of Experience:Minimum five (5) years of experience in material or inventory management. Knowledge of Shipping, Logistics and dealing with import/export, hazmat, logistics, or stores operation is preferred.

Preferred Requirements
  • Strong intellect and aptitude desired, along with ability to manage multiple and varied activities.
  • Ability to prioritize and effectively problem solving and negotiation skills
  • Strong knowledge in export/import requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Access.
  • Ability to report monthly metrics and being familiar with Tableau interactive report.
  • LEAN six sigma green belt or higher with experienced preferred.
  • Must be able to work without direct supervision.
  • Critical thinker.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
