Responsible for picking and packing customer sales orders and inventory transfers, completing all necessary paperwork and computer transactions, and making the shipment ready for pickup by the carriers. The Shipping Technician also restocks inventory items and shipping supplies.

  • Review computer system and select sales order waiting for shipment. Print picklist.
  • Gather items from warehouse according to picking list (Amazon, LTL, ground), ensuring accuracy of SKU, quantity and lot numbers selected. Record information on the picklist.
  • Arrange the items in shipper boxes or on pallets according to the requested shipping method. Package items to optimize space and weight and to ensure protection from damage.
  • Prepare each package for shipment by applying appropriate stretch wrap, shipping tape, corner guards, address labels, etc.
  • Ensure each package/pallet is appropriately labelled with carrier's label and that the package is entered into the carrier's automated system so they can collect and scan the package/pallet from the shipping dock when picking up the load.
  • Follow the FIFO procedure (First in First Out) when applicable.
  • Process all required transactions in the company's business system, accurately and in a timely manner. Assure the shipping address is correct.
  • Provide a list of needed finished goods replenishment inventory items to receiving team so they can be staged and transferred.
  • Notify dept manager when supplies need to be reordered.
  • Perform all computer functions needed to track various aspects of goods.
  • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow safety procedures.
  • Operate the stretch wrapper.
  • Operate forklift or pallet jacks to move or lift pallets to proper areas (training available).
  • Interact closely with multiple departments when required (Customer Service, Production, QA).
  • Other duties as assigned and physically able including assisting with manufacturing product and/or unloading of shipping containers and/or trucks as needed.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Microsoft Office and the willingness to learn the company's business systems.
  • Proficient in English, with good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Work independently and manage multiple priorities as well as be a team player.
  • Must be able to stand and be physically active for all 8 hours.
  • Available to work overtime when needed.
Physical Job Requirements
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to be independently mobile and move throughout the facility in a safe manner.
  • The employee is required to successfully interact with a computer and spend time sitting at a desk.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with individuals both external and internal to the company in written, verbal and interpersonal forms required.
  • Must be able to bend, twist, kneel and stoop continuously throughout the day and be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
