Job summary
Ryerson is seeking a Service Center Operator C to support daily staging, packing and picking of material for shipments at our United States facility. The role includes operating forklifts, completing SAP work orders, and ensuring accurate paperwork for shipping and receiving.
The position requires basic math and computer skills, a willingness to participate in an apprenticeship program, and a commitment to safety and accuracy in material handling.
Qualifications
- Pass a skills-based assessment evaluating reading, math, inspection & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
- Minimum 1 year of similar job experience preferred.
- Basic math skills.
- Basic computer skills and/or comfort using a computer.
- Physical ability to pass physical requirements exam for vision, hearing, and mobility.
- Onboarding includes enrollment in a registered apprenticeship program.
Responsibilities
- Pick and stage feedstock for fulfillment orders.
- Break down bulk bundles for customer-specific orders.
- Package material to customer requirements.
- Operate a sit-down or side loader forklift to move material as needed.
- Complete paperwork and SAP work order confirmations for shipping/receiving.
- Maintain maximum productivity for finished goods creation.
- Adhere to on-going duties as assigned or changed.
