Job summary

Altium Packaging is seeking a Shipping Clerk in Chino, California to own all shipping and receiving activities for a HDPE extrusion plastics facility. You will handle safety, quality, inventory, records, and reporting in a fast-paced environment with a focus on accurate documentation.

Experience in shipping/logistics and working knowledge of JD Edwards is preferred. The role may involve overtime and emphasizes teamwork, safety, and reliable on-time delivery to customers.

Qualifications

• Hands-on technical background in high-volume manufacturing with shipping and distribution experience.
• ISO 9000 and automotive supplier experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
• Inspect incoming materials and report damages or discrepancies.
• Enter shipping data into JD Edwards to create Bills of Lading.
• Assemble orders and prepare material for shipment.
• Record shipment data including weight, charges, and space.
• Determine shipment methods, destinations, routes, and rates.
• Coordinate activities of workers handling goods for shipment/receiving.
• Interact with freight carriers to ensure on-time deliveries.
• May be responsible for truck cleanliness and work area.
• Load trucks and secure products per customer requirements.
• Load/unload materials from pallets or lifting devices.
• Monitor material usage and supply production lines with raw materials.
• Weigh materials and record results on tags/ Production schedules.
• Keep production lines supplied with raw materials.
• Inventory products as needed and label/sort/wrap/tie.

This includes safety, quality, receiving, shipping, inventory, keeping records and provide reports. The candidate must have hands‑on technical background in a high-volume manufacturing environment with shipping and distribution experience. ISO 9000 and Automotive supplier experience preferred.

JOB SUMMARY: The Shipping Clerk will take ownership of all aspects of shipping and receiving function for a HDPE extruded plastics products factory. This includes safety, quality, receiving, shipping, inventory, keeping records and provide reports. The candidate must have hands‑on technical background in a high-volume manufacturing environment with shipping and distribution experience. ISO 9000 and Automotive supplier experience preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure compliance with corporate and plant safety standards and with applicable laws and regulations issued by regulatory agencies.
• Inspect in‑coming materials and report damages and discrepancies for accounting, reimbursement and record‑keeping.
• Enter shipping and receiving data into JD Edwards inventory system to create Bill of Ladings.
• Assemble orders and prepare material for shipment.
• Record shipment data, including weight, charges, and space availability.
• Determine method, destination, route, rate, and time of shipment.
• Coordinate the activities of other workers engaged in handling goods to be shipped or being received.
• Interact with freight carriers to ensure on time deliveries to customers.
• May be responsible for the cleanliness of trucks and work area.
• Load trucks and secure product in accordance with customer requirements.
• Load and unload materials onto or off of pallets, skids, or lifting device.
• Monitor material usage on work floor and supply production lines with raw materials.
• Weigh materials or products and record results on tags, labels, or production schedules.
• Keep production lines supplied with raw materials.
• Inventory product as needed. And label, sort, wrap and tie product.
• Unload and stack material by raising and lowering lifting device.
• Other duties as assigned by management.
• Tap rail cars and coordinate with railroad on their movements.

Reasonable mandatory overtime may be required due to business needs.

Qualifications

Preferred

• Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in engineering discipline preferred
• Shipping and logistics experience
• Attention to detail and meeting deadlines
• Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply inventory control and continuous improvement tools.
• Demonstrated ability to meet safety, quality and production requirements
