Job summary

UFP Industries is seeking a Shipping and Receiving Clerk to coordinate inbound and outbound shipments, schedule loads, and communicate with drivers to ensure timely loading and unloading. The role prepares shipment paperwork and reviews incoming material documentation for accuracy and compliance.

  • 6 months shipping and receiving experience minimum.
  • 6–12 months forklift experience preferred.
  • DOT regulations knowledge and procedures a must.
  • Familiarity with Excel, Word and Outlook.

Job Summary

The Shipping and Receiving Clerk is responsible for coordinating inbound and outbound shipments of material, including scheduling, and communicating with drivers to ensure timely loading and unloading activities. Prepares shipment paperwork and material for outbound deliveries and reviews documentation for incoming material to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities
  • Helps Coordinates and schedules all outbound loads and coordinates with sales and production.
  • Determines proper loading order and placement of product.
  • Verifies shipping documents and records any discrepancies.
  • Set up all loads to be shipped via common carrier with outside freight companies.
  • Coordinates routing of orders and dispatches carrier with orders and appropriate delivery instructions consistent with customer receiving times.
  • Ensures all internal/external paperwork meets all Universal as well as DOT regulations and procedures.
  • Documents any shortage on orders, investigates reasons for occurrence and informs sales and admin of the shortage.
  • Takes and acts upon all calls for tracing and/or expediting orders.
  • Maintains proper documentation and records of incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Assist’s with loading and unloading material from trucks or carts when needed.
  • Prepares various reports and correspondence as required.
  • Demonstrates strong communication skills through timely email review and response.
  • Processes and closes shipping documentation in a timely manner while coordinating with Production to ensure inventory availability and shipment readiness.
  • Support Shipping and Receiving operations by performing assigned duties and assisting with additional tasks as needed to meet business objectives.
  • Helps coordinate inbound loads and appointments.
  • Helps update YAM.
Qualifications
  • Minimum high school diploma/GED
  • Minimum 6 months of experience in shipping and receiving or related areas.
  • 6-12 months of experience as a forklift operator is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of standard DOT concepts, regulations, practices and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of proper loading techniques, weight limitations, and company procedures.
  • Working knowledge of Excel, word and Outlook.
  • Basic knowledge of lumber math, lumber grades and species.
  • Successful completion of forklift driver licensing process.
  • Preferred understanding of company policies, practices and procedures.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
Compensation & Benefit Information

Hourly Pay Range: $21.00 - $23.00 an hour dependent on experience* *pay range may be adjusted depending on cost of living

Bonus/Incentive Pay: Incentive pay may be available for certain job roles and may include piece rate incentives, weekly production bonuses, trip rates, and employee referral bonuses. A discretionary annual bonus based on Company and business unit performance may also be provided.
