Job summary

Automation Movers International is seeking a Shipping/Receiving Clerk in Sterling Heights, MI to verify and document incoming and outgoing shipments and to prepare items for dispatch. The role includes leading personnel in the S&R area and ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities include inspecting shipments, labeling, packing, weighing, posting charges, and coordinating with shippers.

• Compares information and counts, weighs, or measures shipments to verify against records.
• Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons.
• Inserts items into containers.
• Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage.
• Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
• Routes items to departments.
• Loads all welding and assembly systems on flatbed trucks for delivery to customer plants.
• Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
• Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
• Operates tier lift truck or uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
• Adheres to the Quality System and participates in continuous improvement.
• Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.
• Understands and follows safety & environmental regulations and identifies safety/environmental concerns.

Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment by performing the following duties. Leads additional personnel within the S&R area.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.


• Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons. Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers.


• Inserts items into containers.


• Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage.


• Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages. Routes items to departments.


• Loads all welding and assembly systems on flatbed trucks for delivery to customer plants. Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
