Job Summary
The Shipping Clerk is responsible for preparing, processing, and coordinating outbound shipments to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant delivery of customer orders. This role supports daily shipping operations by generating shipping documentation, coordinating with carriers, staging product for shipment, and maintaining accurate records within Epicor. The Shipping Clerk works closely with operations, customer service, and logistics partners to meet on-time delivery and quality expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and process shipping documentation including Bills of Lading (BOLs), packing lists, labels, and invoices
- Verify shipment accuracy by matching orders, packing lists, and shipping paperwork prior to shipment
- Coordinate daily shipments with carriers (LTL, UPS, FedEx, truckload, international freight as applicable)
- Weigh, count, and document packages and pallets accurately
- Stage finished goods for shipment and ensure proper packaging and labeling per customer and carrier requirements
- Load and unload shipments as required or coordinate with material handlers
- Obtain required carrier signatures and ensure completed documentation is returned and filed correctly
- Enter and maintain accurate shipment data in Epicor, including shipment notes and status updates
- Communicate shipment status, delays, or issues to internal teams in a timely manner
- Support on-time delivery metrics and assist with resolving late or incorrect shipments
- Maintain an organized, clean, and safe shipping area
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies
- Perform other duties as assigned to support shipping and warehouse operations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 3–5 years of experience in a shipping, warehouse, or logistics role preferred
- Experience with ERP systems (Epicor or similar) preferred
- Working knowledge of shipping documentation, carrier requirements, and freight methods
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, packing lists, and shipping instructions
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Basic computer skills (email, spreadsheets, ERP systems)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the shift
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance
- Ability to work in a manufacturing or warehouse environment with varying temperatures and noise levels
- Manufacturing and warehouse setting
- Interaction with shipping carriers, drivers, and internal departments
- Emphasis on safety, accuracy, and on-time performance
