Job summary

United States Cold Storage, Inc. in Quakertown, PA is seeking a Shipping & Receiving Associate to join our team on multiple shifts.

You will communicate with carriers, enter products into the WMS, verify driver paperwork, and coordinate dock doors and driver check-in/check-out. Required is a High School Diploma or GED with 1–3 years of experience, plus strong communication skills and the ability to interpret packing slips and data-entry accurately.

Responsibilities

• Communicate effectively with carriers regarding inbound/outbound movements.
• Enter products into the WMS, track storage and shipment flow.
• Verify driver identification, assign dock doors, and check drivers in/out.
• Maintain knowledge of product location to optimize dock assignments.
• Report issues to the warehouse to support planning.
• Enter data from carrier paperwork into the system accurately.
• Prepare bill documentation and confirm driver paperwork and destination.
• Identify overages, shortages, or damaged materials and report to supervisor.
• Record appointment details, driver paperwork, seals, and trailer numbers.
• Serve as final checkpoint for order accuracy before release.
• Identify extra charges and collect from the driver.
• Assist Customer Accounts with inbound/outbound shipment postings.
• Maintain professional relations with carriers and customers.
• Occasionally act as Welcome Center Associate and Security Guard as needed.

The Job Details

• Communicate effectively with carriers and other contacts regarding the inbound and outbound movements of their product.
• Expected to have a full picture understanding of how to enter products into the WMS, how the product is stored, and shipped out of the facility.
• Engage with drivers and verify driver identification in order to assign them dock doors and ultimately check the drivers in and out.
• Responsible for knowledge of product location within the warehouse to effectively assign dock doors.
• Effectively communicate any issues to the warehouse so they can plan accordingly.
• Accurately enter data into the system from the carrier/customers' paperwork to properly process inbounds.
• Generate the bill documentation, ensure the carrier reviews the paperwork, and confirm the driver has all the correct paperwork for the load with the correct destination.
• Must report overages, shortages, defective materials, or questionable conditions as per the customer’s requirements to the department supervisor and note on carrier/customer documentation.
• Responsible for putting all necessary information regarding appointments, including driver’s paperwork, seal, trailer number, etc.
• Act as the final checkpoint for order completion and accuracy prior to releasing the driver.
• Responsible for identifying extra charges for pallets, overtime, labor, etc., and collecting appropriate charges from the driver.
• Assist Customer Accounts with the posting of inbound and outbound shipments.
• Maintain professional relationships with carriers and customers.
• Act as a Welcome Center Associate and Security Guard when needed, including overseeing the complete check-in and check-out process, trailer verification procedure, checking the yard, and verifying sealed trailers.
• Work effectively outside in order to communicate with drivers.

What We Are Looking For

Education

• High School Diploma or GED

Experience

• 1 - 3 years preferred.
• Excellent communication skills, written and oral.
• Ability to perform, but not limited to, the following tasks, be familiar with and able to interpret packing slips, enter into the computer the correct information, to acknowledge receipt of the goods into the purchase order and processing database.
