Job summary

Hexcel, a leader in advanced lightweight composites, seeks a Shipping Operator at our Casa Grande, AZ facility. You will package finished products, prepare crates and pallets, and ensure packaging meets customer specifications.

The role runs on a swing shift (3:00 PM – 11:00 PM) with OT as needed, starting at $25.75/hour during orientation and $28.13/hour after 90 days, plus a $1.75 shift premium. Strong attention to detail required.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • At least 1 year of experience in manufacturing preferred.
  • Able to read routers, job copies, and sales orders.
  • Able to log data into a computer system.

Responsibilities

  • Package finished product in compliance with specifications.
  • Create crates, pallets, and boxes for shipping.
  • Determine packaging methods and whether to pallet or crate.
  • Use forklift to move materials and load shipments.
  • Verify quantities and dimensions per specs.
  • Maintain accurate records of packaging and labels.

Job description

Become a part of the “strength within.” Hexcel is currently seeking a Shipping Operator for our Casa Grande, AZ, USA location. Start rate: $25.75 Per Hour during the New Hire Orientation Period – normally 90 calendar days, then increases to $28.13 Per Hour. This position is on Swing shift (3:00PM to 11:00PM, Monday – Friday + O/T as required) and pays a $1.75 per hour shift premium.

Responsibilities
  • Packages finished product in compliance with manufacturing and customer specifications.
  • Makes crates, pallets, and boxes for shipping honeycomb products to customers.
  • Determines if existing product needs to be palleted or crated.
  • Uses due date list to select finished products to be packed.
  • Utilizes sales order and sales order information to determine proper packaging methods.
  • Verifies that all quantity and dimensions of finished product have been checked and signed-off by production.
  • Moves material with forklift and uses hand tools, power saws, and air-powered equipment to construct boxes, crates, and pack product.
  • Orders lumber, cardboard replenishments, and other packing material and work supplies.
  • Must be able to read and understand routers, job copies, and sales orders.
  • Inputs and receives information from a computer to log out test pieces, print sales orders and labels.
  • Ensures that packaging meets customer specifications and expectations.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year experience required preferably in manufacturing.
  • Minimum of 6 months manufacturing experience in the Hexcel Casa Grande facility may substitute in lieu of one year experience.
  • Must be proficient in use of tape measure and ruler.
  • Basic working knowledge of computer data entry function preferred.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Must be able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Eligible candidate must be a: U.S. citizen, U.S. national, person lawfully admitted for permanent residence, temporary resident under sections 210(a) or 245(A) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, person admitted in refugee status, or person granted asylum.
