Job summary

Pratt Industries is seeking a Shipping & Storage Representative to support our manufacturing operations in the United States. The role requires reading orders, preparing legible reports, and communicating with plant personnel.

You will operate a handheld scanner and basic calculators to track raw materials and ensure accurate records. Safety is essential: you must follow lock-tag-try procedures, watch for hazards, and comply with plant rules.

Job description

1) Mental Ability – The Shipping & Storage Representative must be able to read orders and prepare reports legibly and properly. They must be able to communicate orally with all personnel in the plant. They must be able to operate a calculator for basic mathematical computations. Basic typing skills are essential because all Representatives operate a computerized scanning machine for raw material tracking.

2) Physical Ability – The Shipping & Storage Representative must be able to climb up onto an industrial truck and be able to operate two foot pedals. There could be occasional climbing up a ladder. They must be able to operate both hands/arms for driving and lift controls. They must have excellent depth perception to maneuver the clamp truck and raw materials around crowded areas with co-workers nearby. Must be able to maneuver items manually that are 50 pounds or less.

3) Safety – It is plant policy to work in a safe manner. All Shipping & Storage Representatives must ensure guards are in place, follow lock-tag-try procedures, observe hazards such as nip points, and follow plant and department safety rules.

Physical Dimensions:

Work is light difficulty. Shipping Representatives must be able to operate a steering wheel, hydraulic levers, foot pedals, and a handheld scanner. They must be able to observe their immediate area for safe operation of a clamp truck in crowded areas. Occasionally, they may be asked to maneuver items by hand and be able to lift up to 50lbs.
