Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in shipping, warehouse, logistics, or manufacturing operations.
• Experience scheduling daily deliveries to multiple locations and optimizing loads to keep On Time Delivery high while keeping costs low.
• Experience in a corrugated manufacturing or industrial environment is preferred.
• Proven leadership, coaching, and employee development skills.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and warehouse or ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead shipping and warehouse operations to ensure safe, accurate, and on-time deliveries.
• Oversee inbound and outbound freight scheduling, carrier selection, and transportation logistics.
• Develop and coach Shipping Leads, Forklift Operators, and other shipping personnel to build a high-performing team.
• Develop strong relationships with freight carriers, transportation providers, and other business partners.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
• Coordinate with Production, Customer Service, Sales, Maintenance, and Scheduling to meet customer requirements.
• Ensure all shipping documentation is completed accurately and timely.
• Support hiring, onboarding, performance management, and disciplinary processes in partnership with HR.
• Drive accountability through communication, meetings, coaching, and performance evaluations.
• Ensure compliance with all company policies, quality standards, food safety requirements, and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in daily production meetings and provide operational updates while coordinating shipping priorities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Jamestown Container, One of the largest independent manufacturers of corrugated products in the northeastern United States, is looking to add a Shipping Manager to its team. This position will work out of our Macedonia, Ohio location.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Champion a strong safety culture by promoting safe work practices, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations, and driving continuous safety improvements.
• Provide leadership and direction for all shipping and warehouse operations to ensure the safe, accurate, and on-time delivery of customer orders.
• Oversee inbound and outbound freight scheduling, carrier selection, and transportation logistics.
• Manage, coach, and develop Shipping Leads, Forklift Operators, and other shipping personnel to build a high-performing team.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with freight carriers, transportation providers, and other business partners.

• Partner with Production, Customer Service, Sales, Maintenance, and Scheduling to ensure customer requirements are met and shipping priorities are aligned.
• Ensure all shipping documentation, including bills of lading, delivery receipts, shipping records, and compliance documentation, is completed accurately and timely.
• Support hiring, onboarding, performance management, employee development, and disciplinary processes in partnership with Human Resources.
• Drive accountability through regular communication, team meetings, coaching, and performance evaluations.
• Ensure compliance with all company policies, quality standards, food safety requirements, and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in daily production meetings and provide operational updates while coordinating shipping priorities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• High School diploma or GED.
• Preferred prior work experience in the corrugated industry.
• Preferred prior work experience as a forklift operator.
• 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in shipping, warehouse, logistics, or manufacturing operations.
• Proven history of scheduling daily deliveries to multiple locations and optimizing loads to keep On Time Delivery high while keeping costs low.
• Experience in a corrugated manufacturing or industrial environment is preferred.
• Proven leadership, coaching, and employee development skills.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to analyze operational data and make informed business decisions.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and warehouse or ERP systems.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and effectively prioritize multiple responsibilities.
