3 Porch Farm is seeking a team-oriented, efficient assistant to support shipping operations for live plants and flowers. You will bundle, pack, and prepare orders, working closely with all departments to maintain fast, accurate fulfillment.

The role requires the ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and adapt to a high-paced environment while maintaining quality and organization.

Qualifications

Job description

This job is focused on supporting the success of shipping high quality flowers, chrysanthemums, hellebores and dahlia tubers. This is a team assistant position working with all departments. It requires the ability to work in a fast paced environment with an emphasis on efficient and organized working standards. This role requires good time management, attention to detail and adaptability as you will float between departments. This job requires you to be on your feet all day.

This role requires good communication, fine motor skills, and a willingness to learn. We are looking for a highly efficient and quick individual with focus and an eye for detail.

Workload: Seasonal position. 40 hrs a week. Monday-Friday

Start Date: Mid-February through mid-June

Tasks

• Build 200-600 boxes every week
• Prepare all supplies for our weekly mum and flower shipments
• Work with a team of 4 to efficiently pack & ship 200-400 boxes of live plants on Wednesdays
• Work with our studio lead to pack 100-200 boxes of cut flowers on Tuesdays and Thursdays
• Load all packed boxes into ship truck
• Clean and reset shipping area for other work
• Weekly inventory checks on all packing & shipping materials
• Coordinate with management and office for inventory orders
• Assist with live plant inventory
• Assist with moving large quantities of plant trays around the farm
• Assist with packing & shipping other plant products, i.e. dahlia tubers and hellebores
• Occasionally assist with watering and tending to live plants

What this job is NOT:

• Floral design: You might occasionally bundle flowers, but there is no “arranging” involved.
• Field hand: You might be asked to help with any number of tasks, but flower harvesting or weeding are not the focus of this position. You may also work on group field projects from time to time but this position is mainly for propagation of cuttings and plant health maintenance in high tunnels.
• Internship: Though there will be plenty learned on the job about flowers, farming, and how to effectively run a business, this is a paid job for someone with real work experience.
• Laid back: Though everyone out here is incredibly friendly, respectful, and drama free, it is a high paced work flow with specific deadlines each day, so time management and the ability to hustle while maintaining a good attitude is a must.
