Job summary

Kraken Kinetics, based in Moore County, North Carolina, seeks a hands-on Shipping Coordinator to manage outbound shipments, maintain accurate inventory, and ensure material flow from fabrication to final shipment. You will coordinate with production staff, program managers, and carriers to keep operations running smoothly in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires 2+ years in shipping/logistics, experience with Fishbowl/NetSuite, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of shipping, receiving, warehouse operations, logistics, or inventory management.

Responsibilities

• Package and prepare outbound shipments across three local Kraken Kinetics locations.
• Ensure products and materials are packaged to prevent damage during transport.
• Generate and maintain shipment documentation and logs.
• Inform internal customers of shipment delays or issues due to carriers.
• Coordinate shipment pickups with commercial carriers and customer freight providers.
• Verify shipment contents against internal documentation before release.
• Maintain shipment logs and tracking information for internal reference.
• Support inventory accuracy through cycle counts and inventory checks.
• Assist with movement of finished goods from production to shipping areas.
• Ensure proper labeling and identification of materials in staging areas.
• Support receiving responsibilities when needed.
• Maintain shipping work areas in a clean and organized condition.
• Identify and report shipment discrepancies or damaged goods.
• Follow all safety procedures and proper material handling practices.
• Operate company vehicle for inventory management across facilities.

The Shipping Coordinator is a hands-on operational role responsible for managing outbound shipments, maintaining accurate inventory records, and ensuring materials move efficiently throughout the facility. This position plays a critical role in supporting Kraken Kinetics’ manufacturing and program execution by ensuring production materials and customer shipments are properly documented, organized, and transferred to the appropriate internal teams.

The role works closely with production staff, program managers, and supply chain personnel to maintain smooth material flow from fabrication to final shipment. This position reports to the Supply Chain Manager and helps ensure that customer shipments and internal shipment of materials and components required for fabrication, testing, and program delivery are handled efficiently and documented accurately.

This is a hands-on operational role, and candidates should be comfortable working in a warehouse or production environment and performing physical shipping and material handling tasks on a daily basis. We are looking for someone who takes pride in running organized, efficient operations and maintaining good communication and accurate material flow in support of critical manufacturing work.

Key Responsibilities

Shipping & Outbound Logistics

• Package and prepare outbound shipments across three local Kraken Kinetics locations including packaging, labeling, documentation, and carrier coordination.
• Ensure products and materials are packaged appropriately to prevent damage during transport.
• Generate and maintain shipment documentation including packing slips, shipment logs, and tracking records.
• Inform internal customers (sales, customer service, etc) of shipment delays or issues due to carrier delays.
• Coordinate shipment pickups with commercial carriers and customer’s carriers (e.g., UPS, FedEx, customer required freight providers).
• Verify shipment contents against internal documentation prior to release.

Inventory & Material Tracking

• Maintain accurate inventory records using Fishbowl/NetSuite inventory management software to move inventory between locations and confirm outbound shipments.
• Maintain shipment logs and tracking information for internal reference.
• Support inventory accuracy through cycle counts and periodic inventory checks.
• Assist with movement of finished goods from production areas to shipping preparation areas.
• Ensure proper labeling and identification of materials within staging areas.
• Support receiving responsibilities when needed.

Operational Support & Facility Coordination

• Maintain shipping work areas in a clean and organized condition.
• Assist production staff with packaging and staging requirements when needed.
• Identify and report shipment discrepancies or damaged goods.
• Follow all company safety procedures and proper material handling practices.
• Driving a company vehicle will be necessary for inventory management across the three local facilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

• 2+ years of experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse operations, logistics, or inventory management.
• Experience with inventory management systems or warehouse tracking software (Fishbowl experience preferred).
• Basic proficiency with spreadsheets and standard office software.
• Ability to maintain accurate documentation and tracking of materials and shipments.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate with production staff and program managers.
• Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand and move throughout the facility for extended periods.

Preferred

• Experience working in manufacturing, defense, aerospace, or technical production environments.
• Experience coordinating freight shipments or working with commercial carriers.
• Familiarity with inventory control procedures and warehouse organization.
• Experience supporting production teams in a fabrication or manufacturing setting.
