Job summary

Mauser Packaging Solutions is seeking a Shipping Coordinator to support daily shipping, receiving, inventory, and warehouse operations at our Chicago facility. You will generate shipping documentation, verify inventory, and coordinate forklift drivers to ensure smooth material flow.

The role also serves as a backup to the Logistics Coordinator during vacations or peak workloads, requiring strong organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2 years of shipping, receiving, or warehouse experience.
• Experience with shipping documentation, inventory transactions, and warehouse systems.
• Preferred experience coordinating warehouse activities and driver assignments.
• Experience with SAP, ERP, WMS, and other inventory management systems.

Job Description

The Shipping Coordinator supports daily shipping, receiving, inventory, and warehouse operations to ensure the accurate movement of raw materials and finished goods. This position is responsible for shipping documentation, inventory verification, coordinating warehouse activities, directing forklift drivers, and supporting efficient material flow throughout the facility.

The Shipping Coordinator is also cross trained as a backup to the Logistics Coordinator and provides support for logistics activities during vacations, absences, and periods of high workload.

Essential Functions

Shipping, Receiving & Warehouse Operations

• Maintain shipping and receiving documentation.
• Generate Bills of Lading (BOLs) and other shipping paperwork.
• Verify inbound and outbound shipments for accuracy.
• Complete cycle counts and inventory verification activities.
• Coordinate daily warehouse activities to support shipping, receiving, inventory, and production requirements.
• Direct forklift drivers and communicate work priorities.
• Investigate and report shipping discrepancies, inventory variances, and documentation issues.
• Notify management of operational, inventory, or shipment concerns.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with safety and quality standards.

Transportation & Logistics Support

• Coordinate shuttle movements between facilities as needed.
• Maintain awareness of trailer locations to support shipping and receiving operations.
• Serve as backup to the Logistics Coordinator during vacations, absences, and other periods as required.
• Assist with transportation coordination, shipment tracking, and logistics reporting.
• Communicate with carriers, brokers, customers, and drivers regarding shipment status and transportation issues.
• Assist with freight claims and service-related issues.

Job Scope

• Works independently and exercises sound judgment in daily decision-making.
• Coordinates shipping, receiving, inventory control, material movement, and warehouse activities.
• Directs forklift drivers to support operational priorities and workflow efficiency.
• Provides backup support for logistics operations as needed.

Education & Experience

Required

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse operations, transportation support, or a related field.
• Experience with shipping documentation, inventory transactions, and warehouse systems.

Preferred

• Experience coordinating warehouse activities, material movement, or driver assignments.
• Experience in logistics, transportation, dispatching, freight coordination, carrier management, or supply chain operations.
• Experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
• Experience with SAP, ERP, WMS, TMS, and other transportation and inventory management systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Outlook, Word, and Teams.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Strong knowledge of shipping, receiving, inventory control, and warehouse operations.
• Understanding of transportation, logistics, dispatching, and material flow processes.
• Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Basic mathematical and inventory management skills.
• Understanding safety, quality, and PPE requirements.

Physical/Visual Demands/Work Environment

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to walk and stand on concrete floors. Frequent amounts of bending, stooping, climbing, pushing and pulling are required.
• The employee must regularly be able to do light/medium amounts of lifting and carrying (1 – 50lbs) in order to manually unload received materials and distribute to appropriate departments or storage areas.
• This job is performed in the manufacturing production environment, with some exposure to outside weather elements.
• Exposure to high noise levels in some areas, including exposure to oil, and dirt.

Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions

Inside conditions, extremes of heat (100+ seasonal), exposure to humidity, working in tight areas, high noise levels from production environment, including some exposure to outside weather elements, oil and dirt.

The hourly pay rate is $27.63/hr. The exact salary offered will depend on the selected candidate's experience, work location, skills, etc.
