Job description

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: Responsible to accurately bill out orders. Ensures drivers are checked in and released with appropriate paperwork. Assists in shipping product.

ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Ensuring all load documentation and diagrams are verified and accurate for billing purposes.
  2. Partners with supervisor and QA to assist with releasing loads.
  3. Generates bill of lading based on documentation and load diagrams.
  4. Completes load information on the appropriate forms and databases.
  5. Collects and prints necessary papers for shipping and receiving.
  6. Collects information to produce reports and data entry.
  7. Ensures drivers have proper paperwork before load is released.
  8. Establishes when pre-shipment is needed.
  9. Maintains information and communication regarding all trailer issues as well as shortage requests/releases.
  10. Notifies shuttle drivers when trailers need to be pulled or placed at dock.
  11. Keeps schedule and lot layout up to date.
  12. May schedule receiving and inbound appointments.

Team Participation: Participates as a member of the Team. Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members. Attends appropriate team meetings. As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc. Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforces actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.

Simmons Operating Systems Principles and Objectives: Is familiar with Simmons' established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position's role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.

Other Duties: Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives: This position description is intended to guide the activities of the Shipping Clerk and is not intended to limit the thinking and creativity of the person to the work of this function nor is it intended that this describe all the work that may be required of the person in this position.

Physical Activities: Be able to work on feet during shift. Bending, squatting, stooping, work in elevated areas, climb stairs and ladders. Be able to lift/move 3 - 20 pound bags of product at waist level; be able to work in a cool, wet and noisy environment.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Will use head covering, ear plugs, skid resistant steel toe shoes, and any other protective equipment as needed or required.

Technical Experience: Prior experience with inventory and experience in a warehouse or food production a plus.

Minimum Education: Must be able to read, write and speak English, possess basic math skills, use a ten key by touch and be proficient in the use of a computer to include spreadsheets.

Preferred Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent.
