Job summary

Caterpillar in Fort Worth, TX is seeking a Shipping Clerk to assist the section manager, coordinate workflows, and oversee day-to-day operations in the warehouse. You will promote teamwork, adjust priorities, gather metrics, and generate reports while handling multiple job classifications.

The role includes order filling, packing, loading/unloading, operating packaging lines and forklifts, and ensuring accurate counts and records.

Qualifications

• Prior distribution center or warehouse experience preferred.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and maintain records.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Order filling, processing, storing/picking of parts, materials, equipment, and supplies.
• Operating automated packaging equipment, paint line operation, shipping and receiving.
• Multiple systems interaction and verify receipts against packing lists.
• Identify expedited parts and prioritize receiving schedules.
• Resolve discrepancies with accounts payable and material coordinators.
• Interact with carriers and schedule outbound loads.
• Coordinate with logistics and external carriers for expedited shipments.
• Ensure counts are recorded before movements into/out of finished goods inventory.
• Record counts, weights, and material movements on daily production sheets.
• Attach tags/labels to materials and operate forklifts and related equipment.
• Support a culture of accident-free work and housekeeping excellence.

Job Summary:

The Shipping Clerk assists the section manager in leading team members, coordinating and delegating workflow and overseeing day to day operation of area; promoting cooperative team relationships, establishing and modifying priorities, gathering metrics, generating reports, overseeing work for multiple job classifications, etc. Occasionally performing various warehousing functions at a Caterpillar warehouse/distribution facility.

• Compensation: Pay starts at $19.85 /hour

What you will do:

• Order filling, processing, storing/picking of parts, materials, equipment, and supplies
• Operating automated packaging equipment, paint line operation, shipping and receiving
• Multiple systems interaction
• Validate accuracy of receipts to supplier packing lists
• Identify expedited parts
• Prioritize receipts based on receiving schedules
• Resolve grief by working with accounts payable and material coordinators in supply chain on receiving discrepancies
• Interact with carriers
• Schedule outbound loads
• Coordinate with logistics and external carriers to set up expedited shipments
• Ensure accurate counts are recorded prior to any movements into or out of the finished goods inventory
• Counts, weighs, and records number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet
• Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, bales, or other containers
• Operates electric hoist, reach trucks, sit-down forklifts, and overhead cranes to assist in loading or moving materials and products
• Develops a culture that works to achieve and maintain an accident-free workplace
• Develops a culture that works to achieve and maintain ongoing housekeeping excellence

What you will have:

• Previous distribution center, warehouse and/or order filling experience
• Knowledge of parts systems, procedures, and operation
• Ability to work with minimal supervisor
• Computer literate
• Good attendance record
• Ability to maintain complete and accurate records
• Ability to work overtime when required
• Good mechanical aptitude
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months to one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of educations and experience.

Physical Demands:

• Consistently lifting 50 pounds individually
• Occasional bending, reaching and squatting while performing tasks
• Consistent usage of required PPE for task being performed
• Work in an environment with frequently changing temperatures
• Standing and/or sitting at a desk while performing tasks

Summary Pay Range:

$19.85 - $26.55
