Job summary

Flowers Foods, Inc. in Lenexa, KS is seeking a Shipping Associate for 1st shift in the Bakery. The role involves filling orders, counting, loading and unloading products according to the shipping schedule, and maintaining a clean work area.

The position requires physical stamina to lift up to 20 pounds and transport heavier items with a hand truck, plus adherence to safety and company policies. Prior shipping experience is preferred and high school education is required.

Qualifications

• One year shipping or related experience.
• High School or GED and must have demonstrated ability to read, comprehend and record information applicable to the job.
• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds from floor level and operate a hand truck for heavier items.

Responsibilities

• Ensures that product received from plant or other plants is recorded correctly.
• Load and unloads to appropriate distribution area to ensure that shipping schedules are met.
• Maintains cleanliness of work area.
• Performs other duties as directed by supervisor.
• Ensures compliance with all company policies and procedures (EEO, Sexual Harassment, Safety, Sarbanes Oxley, etc.)
• Performance of other duties which are deemed by management to be an integral part of the job, including but not limited to fulfillment of work schedules, adherence to attendance policies, and other applicable operating rules, policies and procedures.

Bringing Home the Dough

Fills orders, counts, loads, and unloads product on incoming trailers according to the shipping schedule.

Position requires demonstration of competency for all on-the-job activities that may have a direct or indirect effect on product safety, legality and/or quality.

Role is very physical and requires the ability to exert the force necessary to use a hand truck to transport stacked products weighting up to 400 pounds a distance of up to 300 feet continuously throughout the day into and out of transport trucks, up and down 30-degree slopes. Role also requires the ability to stoop, bend, and lift product containers weighing 20 pounds from floor level up to 7-1/2 feet.
