Job summary

Havertys is seeking bright individuals to join our Distribution Team as a Shipping Assembly Handler. Onsite, hands‑on training begins on day one to learn our standards for unboxing, assembling, wrapping, and preparing customer merchandise for shipment.

The position offers $16.50 per hour, with Monday–Friday schedule, 8:00 am to completion. You will record assembly times, ensure proper torque and tool use, and uphold safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform heavy lifting throughout shift.
• Team-oriented, collaborative work style.
• Ability to pass criminal background check, lifting assessment, and drug test.
• Previous warehouse experience is a plus.
• Experience with using hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate in a team environment to unbox, inspect, assemble, and wrap customer merchandise for shipment.
• Record the assembly time of every SKU assembled during the day.
• Properly assemble knocked‑down merchandise and ensure proper handling and care of the merchandise.
• Ensure the proper torque is applied to all nuts and bolts and proper use of air‑powered tools.
• Gain understanding of productivity standards and time management skills.
• Learn proper handling of materials and merchandise to minimize damage and injury.
• Learn to inspect products for quality in preparation for Home Delivery.
• Maintain a clean work environment and safety compliance.
