Job summary

Karman Space & Defense in Utah is seeking a Shipping Agent to join our on-site team in Salt Lake City/West Valley City. This full-time clerical role supports an efficient supply chain by coordinating shipments, verifying orders, and ensuring accurate documentation and packaging.

You will prepare shipping requests, arrange carriers, communicate with customers and vendors, build shipping crates, verify deliveries, and operate a forklift as needed.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent in work experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong time management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities, organize tasks, and maintain attention to detail.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates shipments by preparing and processing shipping requests.
• Arranges shipments with carriers, obtains required approvals, prepares and packages shipments, and updates shipment status.
• Communicates with customers and vendors to confirm and obtain required documentation and approvals.
• Builds custom shipping crates and assists with packaging and unpackaging products, materials, and supplies.
• Maintains an organized shipping area and ensures required shipping supplies are available.
• Receives deliveries and verifies item accuracy against packing slips.
• Verifies that required paperwork is complete and legible and works with suppliers to obtain missing documentation.
• Scans paperwork and maintains hard-copy and electronic files.
• Labels received items and delivers them to recipients, Inventory, or Receiving Inspection, as applicable.
• Operates a forklift to load, unload, and move shipping containers and picks up deliveries from local suppliers as needed using a personal vehicle.

The Shipping Agent supports an efficient supply chain by coordinating shipments and deliveries, verifying order accuracy and documentation, and ensuring materials are properly packaged, received, labeled, and routed. This role works with customers, vendors, carriers, and internal teams to keep shipping and receiving activities organized, accurate, and on schedule while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Physical Requirements

• Stands, walks, or sits constantly for at least 8 hours.

• Uses sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment.
• Maintains clarity of vision at approximately 20 inches or less; corrective lenses may be worn to fulfill requirements.
• Performs prolonged periods of repetitive movement.
• Constantly holds, grasps, turns, or otherwise works with the hands.
• Occasionally extends the arms to reach overhead, at shoulder level, and below shoulder level.
