Job summary

Quaker Houghton in Detroit, MI is seeking a detail-oriented shipping/receiving associate. The role includes occasional light production tasks to support on-time production and shipping with a strong emphasis on quality, safety, and customer service.

You will handle loading/unloading, inventory checks, and paperwork accuracy. Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED and some shipping/receiving experience; chemical manufacturing experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Load and unload trucks and move goods using forklift.
  • Track material inventory and perform counts.
  • Store and retrieve raw materials and finished goods.
  • Clean up spills of non-hazardous items.
  • Prepare drums/bins for shipment.
  • Maintain a clean and safe facility through housekeeping.
  • Ensure shipment paperwork is complete and accurate.
  • Load and unload overseas containers.

Job Summary

Position Summary

This position will focus primarily on shipping and receiving responsibilities. Additional responsibilities for performing occasional, light production duties to ensure on‑time production and shipment of product while adhering to high standards of quality, safety and customer service.

Job Responsibilities
  • Loading and unloading trucks and moving finished goods/raw materials throughout facilities, including the use of fork trucks.
  • Assist in tracking material inventory and performing inventory counts.
  • Store and retrieve raw materials, finished goods, and supplies in the warehouse.
  • Clean up spills of non-hazardous items.
  • Prepare and inspect drums/bins, etc. for shipment.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and safe facility through performance of general housekeeping duties.
  • Confirm paperwork is complete for all shipments and correct when needed.
  • Loading and unloading of overseas containers.
Education / Experience
  • High school diploma/GED
  • Previous shipping and receiving preferred
  • 1‑2 years of related chemical manufacturing experience preferred
Physical Demands
  • Ability to move drums up to 500 pounds with mechanical equipment in a safe manner as directed.
  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds
  • May be required to stand for long periods and walk great distances daily
  • Routinely required to use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • May be required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and talk or hear
  • May be required to work in small spaces and high locations
