Job summary

Union Electric Steel Corporation in Pittsburgh is seeking a Shipping Supervisor to plan and coordinate daily shipping and receiving of raw materials, supplies and products, prioritizing reliability and efficiency.

You will supervise shipping activities, ensure packaging meets specs, manage inventory, and coordinate roll releases with Sales, Production Planning and QA, while handling transportation documents and carrier relations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; post-secondary education preferred.
• 3–5 years logistics or production/manufacturing experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to plan, organize and prioritize projects.
• Ability to work in a team and independently with minimal supervision.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Continual attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily shipping activities to ensure accuracy and condition of shipments.
• Ensure packaging and routing meets customer specifications and determine legal load limits.
• Oversee inventory of in-process materials and finished goods.
• Coordinate roll releases for shipment with Sales, Production Planning, and QA.
• Process shipping and receiving transactions in the business system.
• Prepare documents for scheduling transportation of domestic and international shipments.
• Oversee shop activities and inventory of materials, supplies, components, and tools.
• Collaborate with carriers and other departments to ensure timely revenue recognition.

Job Summary

Plans and coordinates daily shipping and receiving of raw materials, supplies and products in accordance with company guidelines, giving careful consideration to using the most reliable, economical and efficient method.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Supervises the daily incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
• Ensures packaging and routing is in accordance to customer specifications, and determines legal load limits of trucks.
• Supervises movement, storage and inventory of in-process materials and finished goods through plant area.
• Coordinates the release of rolls for shipment with the Sales Department, Production Planning, and Quality Assurance.
• Processes shipping and receiving transactions in business system.
• Prepares documents for scheduling transportation of domestic and international shipments.
• Oversees carpenter shop activities and inventory of materials, supplies, components, and tools.
• Works closely with carriers and other departments to ensure timely revenue recognition.
