Job summary

Alpha-Baking-Co., Inc. in Northbrook, IL is seeking a dedicated Shipper to support our bakery’s fast-paced shipping team.

You will move bread and bun stacks to the shipping dock, unload incoming shipments, reject damaged items, and coordinate with the lead to rectify shortages and damages. This role requires constant standing and walking on concrete, frequent pushing/pulling of racks and trays, and lifting up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Move bread and bun stacks to shipping dock using a two-wheel cart.
• Unload semi-trailers, route shipments, reject damaged items, and record shortages.
• Coordinate with the lead to rectify damages and shortages.
• Work efficiently within a busy dispatch department and with the shipping team.

Job description

The Shipper works in a fast-paced environment preparing items for shipment by performing the following duties:

• Physically moves bread/bun stacks to shipping dock using two-wheel car to stage product.
• Repetitive use of upper extremities to break down stack of product to be brought to designated area of building.
• Unloads semi-trailer and routes incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with lead to rectify damages and shortages.
• Efficiently works within a busy dispatch department.
• Works well with shipping team to complete orders in a timely manner.
• Must have reliable transportation and attendance to meet employer's attendance standards for 24/7 depot facility.

Required qualifications, skills, and experience:

• Worker must be able to constantly stand and walk on concrete floors and trailer beds.
• Frequent pushing/pulling of transport racks and bread trays.
• Frequent bending, stooping, twisting, reaching, lifting, carrying is required.
• Frequent to constant handling and grasping of bakery product trays, transport racks and boxes.
• Frequently lift and/or move items up to 50 lbs.
