Qualifications

• Knowledgeable in and able to teach shipfitting/structural fitting courses.
• Strong instructional techniques, organization, and a student-centered attitude.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; basic computer proficiency (LMS, email, Office).
• NCCER Core or OSHA certification preferred, or obtained within the first 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Teach credit and/or non-credit shipfitting/structural fitting courses with emphasis on precision and code-quality work.
• Instruct and enforce safe use of fitting tools, rigging, and shop/yard equipment; maintain equipment and a clean lab.
• Develop and post syllabi aligned to master syllabi; set attendance, grading, and assessment policies; provide timely feedback to support student success.
• Inspect and assess the quality of fitting work; complete related inspection docs; prepare students for industry certifications and employer tests.
• Mentor and advise students on course progress, retention, certifications, and job pathways; refer at-risk students to counseling/advising.
• Maintain attendance, progress, and grade records; meet college timelines for rosters and communications.
• Participate in professional development and represent the college; collaborate with department to advance goals.
• Be available to students via phone/email within division response-time windows; foster an inclusive learning environment.
