Job summary

Leidos Defense Group is seeking a Tech II Shipboard Installer in Chesapeake, VA to support ASW sonar system installations and maintenance. You will interpret installation drawings, plan routes, and perform cableway tasks while adhering to safety and testing protocols.

Qualified candidates have a HS diploma or equivalent with 3 years of field installation experience, and hold fiber optic and connector qualifications, with ability to lift 50 lbs and climb ladders. Secret clearance is required.

Qualifications

  • Must have HS diploma or equivalent and 3 years direct field installation experience.
  • Fiber optic handler certification to 8477552A is required.
  • Fiber optic connector qualification is required.
  • Copper connector qualification Mil Standard is required.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and climb ladders.
  • Must be able to maintain a Secret Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Understand & interpret ship installation drawings.
  • Plan cable routes & runs.
  • Perform lockout/tagouts and related safety procedures.
  • Inspect cableways and install/remove components.
  • Terminate cables and fabricate connectors.
  • Test cables for continuity and megger testing.

Responsibilities - Work you'll do:
  • Understand & interpret ship installation drawings
  • Planning cable routes & runs
  • Conduct WAF / TUMS / Lockout/Tag-outs.
  • Cableway inspections
  • Cableway installation, equipment removal & installation
  • Removal & installation of various cable types
  • Opening & closing of MCT's/MCP's & the associated documentation & testing
  • Cable termination, hardwired connections, & connector fabrication.
  • Cable testing to include cable continuity & megger testing
  • Cable & Cableway management, cable dress-in, banding, & cable tag installation
  • Adherence to all safety regulations & procedures applicable to task
  • Completion of required documentation, OQE, & paperwork
  • Mentorship of junior team members on safety, workmanship, & best practices
Required Experience, Skills, and Education:
  • HS diploma or equivalent and 3 years of direct experience conducting field installation projects.
  • Fiber Optic cable handler certified to 8477552A.
  • Fiber Optic Connector qualified.
  • Copper Connector Qualified Mil Standard.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders.
Preferred Experience, Skills, and Education - Favorable if you have:
  • Valid driver's license
  • Valid Passport
  • Connector Fabricator Qualified (Copper and or Fiber)
  • OSHA 10
  • VSRA
Clearance Required:
  • Ability to maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
Pay Range

Pay Range $40,300.00 - $72,850.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
