Job summary

Kymera International is seeking a Shipyard Quality Coatings Inspector to join our field service team. This role requires extensive travel (75%+ to US and international job sites) and work aboard ships and in shop environments in Houston, TX or Chesapeake, VA.

The inspector will verify coating applications, surface preparation, and conformance to MIL-STD, ISO 9001, and other standards, with emphasis on safety and regulatory compliance. A NACE/AMPP/NBPI certification is preferred.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent is required; an associate or technical degree is preferred.
Minimum 3 years of experience in manufacturing, shipyard, or ship repair environments.
NACE/AMPP/NBPI certification is preferred and a solid understanding of coating materials and inspection methods.
Ability to interpret drawings and technical specifications.
Willingness to travel 50–75% of the time, including international assignments.

Responsibilities

Perform dimensional inspections using precision gauges and data loggers.
Interpret military specifications and ISO quality standards.
Maintain calibration programs in line with ISO/ANSI standards.
Document inspection results and communicate findings to clients and teams.
Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions for nonconformances.
Inspect surface preparation and coating application on structures and equipment.
Ensure compliance with MIL-STD and OSHA safety rules during field work.
Travel to job sites aboard ships and overseas locations.
