Job summary

Rex Lumber, LLC is seeking a dedicated Night Shift Cleaner to maintain cleanliness and safety in the sawmill, planer mill, and surrounding areas. This role emphasizes keeping the facility free of debris and operating cleaning equipment as needed.

The position requires the ability to exert physical effort for a 12+ hour shift, follow supervisor instructions, and work well within a team while maintaining high safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to follow oral or written instructions from supervisors.
• Ability to exert muscle force repeatedly or continuously over time.
• Ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with body, arms, and/or legs.
• Ability to watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure a machine is working properly.
• Ability to work well as part of a team and with minimal supervision.
• Ability to complete maintenance, downtime tallies and daily reports as required.
• Possess excellent reasoning and mathematical skills.
• Possess a high level of trustworthiness and integrity.
• Possess knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs and uses.

SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS

This is a Night Shift position. Keep all areas including the sawmill, planer mill and all surrounding areas safe, clean and free of debris.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Pick up stray debris
• Empty trash as required
• Operate equipment used for cleaning: i.e shovels, blowers, brooms, etc.
• Participate in action planning process
• All other duties assigned by supervisor
• Assist other clean up employees as necessary
• Must be able to exert muscle force repeatedly or continuously over a 12 plus hour shift
• Must be able to left, carry, push or pull 50 plus pounds during a 12 plus hour shift
• Must be able to stoop, kneel or crouch during the workday
• Must be able to sit and walk or otherwise move around for a 12 plus hour shift
• Must be able to bend, stretch, twist or reach with body, arms and/or legs for 12 plus hour shift
• Must not be afraid of heights

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

• Keep work and surrounding area safe, clean and free of debris

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

• Reports directly to the maintenance supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS

• Prefer high school diploma/GED
• Understand and follow oral or written instructions issued by supervisors
• Ability to exert muscle force repeatedly or continuously over time
• Ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with body, arms, and/or legs
• Ability to watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure a machine is working properly
• Ability to work well as part of a team and with minimal supervision
• Ability to complete maintenance, downtime tallies and daily reports as required

• Possess knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs and uses

SAFETY

• Follow all area/machine center specific safety regulations
• Wear all required personal protective equipment: hardhat, safety glasses, hearing protection, etc…as required
• Do not enter restricted areas
• Report immediately to supervisor any piece of equipment that is unsafe or functioning improperly
• Request assistance when a task exceeds individual knowledge
• Visually inspect equipment and area before starting/operating
• Whenever possible, eliminate unsafe conditions as soon as possible
• Use Standard Lockout Procedures when appropriate for machine centers
• Use proper lifting technique by pushing, pulling and lifting with your legs and not your back
• Never approach a saw while it is still running
• Follow all other safety regulations as set forth by the company
