Job summary

Applegreen USA, a hospitality-focused operator of travel plazas across the Northeast and Midwest, is seeking a Shift Supervisor in New York. You will lead shift teams, ensure guests receive exceptional service, and uphold brand standards and safety guidelines in a fast-paced environment.

You will train new hires, manage cash handling, assist with opening/closing, and help meet daily targets while promoting cross-selling and product knowledge across the plaza's food and retail offerings.

Qualifications

• Cash handling and customer service experience required.
• Shift supervisor or leadership experience preferred.
• Ability to interact with customers and coworkers in a friendly, outgoing manner.

Responsibilities

• Lead the activities of team members on shift.
• Provide friendly customer service and resolve complaints.
• Complete opening, daily and closing procedures and checklists.
• Operate POS system and process payments following policies.
• Ensure proper food handling, labeling, stocking and dating.
• Prepare kitchen tasks: prep, cook, wrap, and clean.
• Train new team members and ensure compliance.
• Inform plaza leadership of observations and problems.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.

What You’ll Do

As the Shift Supervisor, you will be responsible for leading shifts by ensuring team members provide exceptional customer service, thoroughly complete their job duties, and follow all brand standards & food safety requirements. This position is charged with assisting to train newly hired team members and monitoring for compliance with cash handling policies and procedures.

• Lead the activities of team members on shift.
• Consistently provide friendly customer service by engaging in positive, helpful interactions with customers (travelers) and appropriately resolve customer complaints.
• Complete opening, daily and closing procedures/checklists in accordance with company policies/procedures.
• Operate point-of-sale (POS) system, accurately process & receive payment from customers, and follow all customer service and cash handling policies and procedures.
• Ensure proper food handling procedures are followed including wrapping, labelling, dating, stocking, storing, rotating, and checking temperature of products.
• Complete with a variety of kitchen-related tasks including prepping, thawing, cooking, packaging, wrapping, and cleaning.
• Stock, clean, and sanitize workstation and equipment.
• Actively cross-sell and up-sell products.
• Maintain a solid knowledge of products and services available in the plaza.
• Assist in the training of new team members.
• Follow required brand standards, food safety requirements, as well as all company policies and procedures.
• Inform plaza leadership of any observations, concerns, or problems that are witnessed or experienced.
• Execute a variety of other tasks as assigned.

Essential Experience & Skills

• Cash handling and customer service experience required.
• Shift supervisor or leadership experience preferred.
• Demonstrates the ability to interact with the public and coworkers in a friendly, enthusiastic, and outgoing manner.

Requirements

• Able to stand and walk for an extended period of time.
• Frequently bend, twist, lift and carry at least 40 pounds.
• Requires the ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and policy documents, as well converse comfortably with customers.
• Available to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality, with or without reasonable accommodation.
