Job summary

Gándara Mental Health Center, Inc. is seeking a full-time program supervisor for Youth Services in the Greater Springfield area. You will supervise shifts, support youth, and help implement individualized plans within a structured residential setting.

The role requires a 3+ year background in adolescent services, supervisory experience, and adherence to trauma-informed care practices. DYS/agency clearances and MA driver’s license are mandatory.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Associate degree in a related human services field.
  • Minimum of three years of experience with adolescents in residential/juvenile settings.
  • Must obtain and maintain all required background clearances.
  • Must possess a valid Massachusetts driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the daily operation of assigned shifts to ensure a safe, structured, and therapeutic residential environment.
  • Provide direct supervision and support to youth in accordance with regulations and program expectations.
  • Ensure implementation of individualized service plans and independent living goals.
  • Reinforce DBT skills taught by the Clinician and monitor daily DBT Diary Cards.
  • Coach youth in emotional regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, problem-solving, and healthy decision-making.
  • Promote Positive Youth Development by integrating core values into daily programming.
  • Facilitate independent living skill development, including budgeting, meal planning, and employment readiness.
  • Respond to behavioral crises and emergencies using trauma-informed approaches.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Human Services, Criminal Justice, Psychology, Social Work, Education, or a related field
Associate Degree with relevant experience

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Youth Services Responsibilities
  • Supervise the daily operation of assigned shifts to ensure a safe, structured, and therapeutic residential environment.
  • Provide direct supervision and support to youth in accordance with DYS regulations, agency policies, and program expectations.
  • Ensure implementation of individualized service plans and independent living goals.
  • Reinforce DBT skills taught by the Clinician and monitor completion of daily DBT Diary Cards.
  • Coach youth in emotional regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, problem-solving, and healthy decision-making.
  • Promote Positive Youth Development (PYD) by integrating the Five Cs, DYS Core Values, and the Positive Behavior Incentive Program into daily programming.
  • Ensure each youth receives consistent advocacy and mentoring through the Enhanced Advocacy Program.
  • Facilitate and monitor independent living skill development, including:
  • Budgeting and financial literacy
  • Meal planning and cooking
  • Household management
  • Transportation and community navigation
  • Employment readiness
  • Personal responsibility and self-care
  • Conduct routine room inspections, wellness checks, and safety rounds.
  • Respond to behavioral crises, emergencies, and incidents using trauma-informed and non-coercive intervention techniques.
  • Assist with youth admissions, orientations, and successful program transitions.
  • Provide transportation and community supervision as assigned.
  • Immediately notify program leadership of significant incidents, AWOL events, abuse or neglect concerns, PREA allegations, medical emergencies, or other situations requiring administrative notification.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Program Director or Program Director.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must successfully complete all required DYS and agency training. Bachelor's Degree in Human Services, Criminal Justice, Psychology, Social Work, Education, or a related field preferred; Associate Degree with relevant experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of three years of experience working with adolescents or young adults in residential
  • care, juvenile justice, behavioral health, or human services.
  • Previous supervisory or lead staff experience preferred.
  • Experience working with justice-involved youth and trauma-affected populations preferred.
  • Knowledge of DYS regulations, trauma-informed care, Positive Youth Development, DBT, and crisis intervention preferred.
  • Must obtain and maintain all required DYS, EEC, CORI, SORI, and agency background clearances.
  • Must possess a valid Massachusetts driver's license.
  • Must meet agency driving requirements.
  • Must successfully complete all required DYS and agency training.

Working Conditions

  • This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position with flexibility to work days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts as program operations require.
  • May serve in an on-call supervisory capacity as assigned.
  • Requires transportation of youth to educational, vocational, medical, recreational, and community appointments.
  • Requires responding to behavioral crises and emergency situations within a residential setting.
  • Must comply with all DYS regulations, contractual requirements, agency policies, and licensing standards.
  • Represents the agency professionally in all interactions with youth, families, DYS personnel, and community partners
