Job summary

Insight Global seeks an experienced Shift Supervisor to lead day-to-day operations at a large coal-fired power generation facility. You will oversee shift operations, mentor operators, and coordinate with maintenance, environmental, and control teams to maximize unit reliability and performance.

You will act as the primary on-shift decision-maker, directing outages, supervising personnel, and driving safety and environmental compliance across the plant.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive power plant operating experience (coal, gas, etc.).
• Prior supervisory experience overseeing operations personnel.
• Strong understanding of plant equipment, operating procedures and safety protocols.
• Higher education/college degree.

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct hourly power plant operations to ensure reliable generation and system demand requirements are met.
• Supervise and support plant operators, including task assignment, performance management, training, and employee development.
• Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure equipment is available, properly operated, and prepared for outages and repairs.
• Monitor plant equipment performance, identify operational issues, and take corrective action to maintain safe and efficient operations.
• Partner with Electric System Control to manage unit outages and maintain electrical system reliability.
• Oversee fuel and coal handling operations to ensure continuous and dependable unit performance.
• Support environmental compliance efforts and ensure adherence to all safety, operational, and regulatory requirements.
• Foster a positive team culture through coaching, communication, accountability, and leadership.

We are seeking an experienced Shift Supervisor to lead day-to-day operations at a large coal-fired power generation facility. This role is responsible for overseeing plant operations, ensuring safe and reliable power production, coordinating maintenance activities, and leading a team of plant operators to meet system demand.

As a key leader within the plant, you'll oversee shift operations, mentor and develop operators, and work closely with maintenance, environmental, and system control teams to maximize unit reliability and performance. In the absence of senior plant leadership, you'll provide oversight of plant operations and serve as the primary decision-maker on shift.

Key Responsibilities
