Qualifications

• High school Diploma or GED and one year corrections experience.
• A valid driver license in Mississippi or Louisiana with an acceptable driving record, unless waived by management.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, protect, instruct, train, counsel and evaluate assigned employees.
• Care, custody and adherence to rules for offenders in assigned area.
• Ensure custody and security of offenders during duty, including observation of offenders and their work assignments.
• Transfer and transport offenders by walking or riding in vehicles.
• Read, review and apply information found in offender records related to health, safety and facility security; provide information to staff.
• Maintain records, forms and reports.
• Perform duties in housing, education, community service or intake areas as assigned.
• Respond to emergencies, administer first aid, and apply use of force procedures when needed.
• Comply with policies, procedures, rules and regulations; overtime may be required.
• Promote positive social skills and provide feedback to staff; ensure safety practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
