Job summary

BD in United States (Columbus, NE) seeks a Production Supervisor for the 6pm–6am shift with every other weekend. You will lead a large team (>20) on the production floor, coach on safety, quality, and productivity, and drive continuous improvement while ensuring BD quality systems compliance.

The role requires 3+ years of supervisory manufacturing experience, strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Education: HSD/GED
  • Associates degree – Business, industrial management or related field preferred
  • BA/BS – Business, Applied Science, Industrial Management, engineering or human resources
  • In lieu of associates degree, 3 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment is required

Responsibilities

  • Promptly address any safety issues or incidents.
  • Spend a minimum of 50% of time on production floor working with associates.
  • Staffing and training plans within the department.
  • Provide regular, timely, and specific feedback to associates.
  • Provide a learning environment and challenge associates to meet higher expectations.
  • Ensure open communication between production associates and management.
  • Represent concerns of production associates to management, and management to production associates.
  • Ensure fair and consistent application of company policies.
  • Work with associates to resolve employee relations issues; involve HR when needed.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement activities.
  • Collaborate with Production Planning to establish production schedules and monitor performance.
  • Track production metrics to ensure department goals are met.
  • Communicate metrics and progress to associates and management.
  • Supervise daily production operations.
  • Other duties as required to support the business.

Essential Functions

Responsible for leading associates in an engaged manner to achieve desired results in an assigned manufacturing area. Directly supervise day-to-day activities of area by coaching associates on a continuous improvement path in their daily manufacturing activities and efforts. Coach associates to be accountable for safety, quality, production, cost, housekeeping and overall policy adherence. Ensure that safety and quality standards are achieved while driving production performance to meet goals and schedules. Ensures compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures and best practices, and all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies and procedures. Regular, punctual attendance is an essential job function. Ability to read and write and converse in English. Willing and able to uphold BD Values.

  • Track production metrics to ensure that department goals are being met.
  • Communicates these metrics and progress to associates and management.
  • Supervise daily production operations.
  • Other duties as required to support the needs of the business.
DELIVERABLES
  • Ensure manufactured products meet the established quality requirements.
  • Meet or exceed operational objectives (i.e. safety, quality, production, cost, etc.).
  • Effectively supervise and develop others to aid in building a high performing production team.
Shift: 6pm - 6 am, to include every other weekend.

Qualifications And Requirements
Minimum Education:

Required: HSD/GED

Preferred: Associates degree – Business, industrial management or related field

BA/BS– Business, Applied Science, Industrial Management, engineering or human resources

  • In lieu of associates degree, 3 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment is required
Minimum Experience
  • 3 years People Leading experience preferred
  • 3 years manufacturing experience preferred
