Job summary

The Lubrizol Corporation in Deer Park, TX is seeking a Shift Operator to operate equipment safely and efficiently, following standard work and contributing to unit goals. This on-site role involves rounds, quality testing, and basic troubleshooting to maintain product quality and process safety.

You will train new operators, participate in root cause investigations, and help improve unit discipline and performance while supporting plant and business objectives.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma is required.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude is required.
  • Basic math, reading, and computer skills are required.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and collaboration skills with different departments are required.

  • Performs rounds & field quality testing to check process equipment, product quality, and monitor process conditions and control systems.
  • Performs tasks assigned to operations.
  • Uses basic troubleshooting and diagnostic skills to resolve process deviation and upset conditions.
  • Follows the standard work processes and practices as outlined by the site and/or unit.
  • Participates in root cause investigations as requested.
  • Trains new unit operating personnel and shares operating knowledge for their development.
  • Monitors unit metrics to ensure plant performance aligns with goals.

How You'll Make An Impact

As a Shift Operator, you'll be at the forefront of our innovation by operating equipment and/or areas in the unit, using knowledge and experience to operate in a safe, environmental responsible, and efficient manner. In addition, the Shift Operator will execute and contribute to the unit work activity task list. In this role, you will:

  • Performs rounds & field quality testing to check process equipment, product quality, and monitor process conditions and control systems.
  • Performs tasks assigned to operations.
  • Uses basic troubleshooting and diagnostic skills to resolve process deviation and upset conditions.
  • Performs simple problem solving and participates in improving daily work.
  • Follows the standard work processes and practices as outlined by the site and/or unit.
  • Understands and delivers what is expected of operators when an unplanned event occurs that will trigger a root cause investigation.
  • Participates in root cause investigations as requested.
  • Trains new unit operating personnel and shares operating knowledge for their development.
  • Ensures operations performance within their assigned responsibility align with plant and business goals.
  • Makes improvements in unit operating discipline and performance based on personal knowledge and skills.
  • Monitors key unit metrics to ensure plant performance remains on track to achieve unit and business goals.
  • Perform autonomous maintenance tasks with a goal to keep equipment in good operating condition and prevent future equipment failures.
  • Accurately and completely records asset utilization losses.
  • Develops the skills and competencies required to perform operator care for the plant activities.
  • Utilizes the appropriate operating discipline and safe work practices required when performing operator care for the plant activities.
  • Follows the Procedure Use Policy of the unit and/or site.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications That Enables Your Success
  • High School Diploma.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude.
  • Basic math, reading, and computer skills.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and collaboration skills to work with varying departments.
Preferred Qualifications That Drives You Forward
  • Certificate of Process Technology.
  • SAP and Delta-V process knowledge.
  • Leadership and technical skills.
  • Continuous process experience.

  • Available to work a rotating 12-hour shift schedule (nights, weekends, holidays.)

  • Must be able to pass a manual dexterity exam; lift a minimum of 50 lbs., climb ladders without fear of heights, bend, pull, push.
  • Work with industrial equipment using proper PPE and safety procedures.
  • Maintain clean shaven appearance to allow for respirator usage.
  • Standing, walking, or operating equipment for extended periods.
  • Working in a lab or manufacturing setting with appropriate PPE provided.
  • Use of computers and digital tools in an office or hybrid environment.
  • Occasional lifting or movement of materials.
  • Adherence to rigorous safety protocols and ergonomic standards.
