Job summary

Velvet Taco is hiring a shift leader to oversee hourly team members and ensure guests have a friendly, efficient experience at our Preston Forest/Dallas location. You will execute opening, mid, and closing duties while maintaining food safety and accuracy in every shift.

Qualified candidates will lead with urgency, de-escalate issues, and manage cash handling and POS tasks. The role requires 21+ and willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• 2 years of experience as a Shift Leader/Supervisor in a restaurant.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Regularly exposed to heat and/or humid conditions.
• Lunch and dinner rushes require multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
• Allergen exposure to wheat, nuts, gluten, soy, and milk products.
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods.
• Must lift up to 25 pounds regularly.
• Handle stressful situations with composure and professionalism.

The Job

• Manages the Hourly Team Members and interacts with Guests in a friendly, professional, and responsive way.
• Executes opening, mid, and closing duties daily following Velvet Taco’s standard procedures and recipe guidelines.
• Skilled at handling Guest concerns and guiding them toward a positive resolution.
• Adept at cash-handling, setting up POS drawers, performing comps and voids, and managing deposits during the shift.
• Presents self as a leader among the Team Members and one that motivates others to follow procedures, work with a sense of urgency, and ensure a positive Guest experience
• Skilled at de-escalating issues between Team Members, making everyone feel heard.
• Supports Management with the inventory process.
• Always keeps food safety a high priority during the shift by performing line checks, checking shelf storage and expiration dates for prepped food, and keeping the restaurant clean and in order.
• Manages the daily prep list and signs off on all prepped items to ensure adherence to our specifications and flavor profiles.
• It is a role model when it comes to maintaining an environment that is safe for our Team Members & Guests by enforcing the use of cut gloves, keeping floors clean and dry, and removing any obstacles that may prevent a work or dining space.
• Communicates and delivers a friendly, welcoming, exceptional guest experience.

The Necessities

• Must be 21 years of age or older.

• Lunch and dinner rushes require constant multitasking in a fluctuating, fast-paced work environment.
• Allergen exposure to wheat, nuts, gluten, soy, and milk products on a regular basis
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
• Kneeling occasionally to reach low storage and refrigeration.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds on a regular basis.
• Ability to handle stressful situations with compassion, composure, and professionalism
• Possesses a Food Handler's Certification and is comfortable working around food
• Possesses an Alcoholic Beverage Service Certification and complies with all regulations
• Close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision are required
• Must possess dexterity to handle tongs, pots/pans, and other equipment
