Description
Position Summary: Shift Leaders provide direct supervision and ensure all crew members work efficiently and effectively during their shift. They do not have a minimum hour requirement.
Primary Responsibilities
The following duties represent the majority of the role but are not all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned as needed:
- Ensure restaurant performance standards are met, including active engagement of crew members at their stations, managing workflow, and reassigning staff as needed. Support labor goals by adjusting crew size based on business volume.
- Resolve guest concerns in person or via phone, using good judgment to determine if customer credit is appropriate, and document decisions for audits.
- Meet guest needs throughout the shift by ensuring adequate food preparation, accurate delivery times, proper order verification, timely table cleaning, and courteous guest interactions.
- Maintain food safety and sanitation standards by verifying glove use, cleanliness of restrooms and surfaces, proper food storage temperatures, and safety signage.
- Ensure crew members adhere to uniform and safety guidelines, including proper attire and footwear.
- Perform shift-related tasks such as cash handling, deposit preparation, end-of-shift activities, and documenting unusual events.
- Maintain safety and security of personnel, guests, and assets by managing locks, alarms, and access control.
- Handle administrative tasks like scheduling, ordering, inventory assistance, and other duties as assigned.
- Assist in training and developing crew members.

Experience/Education & Certification
- Must pass Mazzio’s Comp 1 Test before managing a shift
- Possibly require Food Handler’s permit, Sanitation Certification, or other permits/licenses as per local laws
- Preferred valid driver’s license with insurance and a good driving record
Physical Demands
- Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and 20 pounds frequently, mostly standing, with stamina for long shifts
- Reaching, climbing, stooping, handling, lifting, standing, walking, and other physical activities required
Working Conditions
- Primarily indoor environment with exposure to heat, humidity, and water
- Frequent hand washing and operation of kitchen equipment
Tools and Equipment
Includes adding machines, cash registers, computers, ovens, and other standard kitchen and office equipment.
