Job summary

Verve Coffee Roasters is seeking a Shift Lead in Los Angeles to guide daily operations, mentor baristas, and uphold the high standards of service and product quality. You will lead a busy shift, ensure superior coffee and food pairings, and support the team with knowledge and coaching.

The role requires strong communication, teamwork, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced café environment. Weekend/holiday availability and standing for long periods are expected.

Key Responsibilities

Qualifications and Requirements

• Plan and execute Lead Guide throughout shift
• Ensure kitchen and bar crews produce superior products
• Direct work flow on the floor during the shift
• Check in all deliveries and file invoices appropriately
• Ensure that side work and Hot Corners are addressed each shift
• Provide change for registers, count previous deposits, take deposit to bank, maintain backup bank
• Food service training
• Prior supervisory experience (preferred)
• Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
• Strong organizational and detail-oriented skills
• Experience handling cash (preferred)
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a team
• Logical and methodical problem-solving skills
• Ability to multitask and adapt in a demanding and occasionally stressful environment
• Ability to give and receive constructive feedback
• Availability for a minimum 30-hour work week
• Available to work weekends and holidays
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time

Physical Requirements

The following physical demands outline the requirements necessary for employees to effectively carry out the essential functions of this position. This role is dynamic and involves prolonged periods of standing (or being on one's feet for up to 8 hours), walking, bending, stooping, and crouching throughout the shift. Additionally, employees will be required to lift products and packaging overhead and may frequently handle items weighing between 25 and 50 pounds. Essential vision capabilities for this role encompass close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Furthermore, adept finger and wrist dexterity are essential for successful performance in this position.
