Job summary

Ltd Global in the San Francisco Bay Area seeks a Supervising Veterinarian to ensure high-quality care and lead a team of veterinarians, staff and volunteers. You will develop medical protocols and oversee daily operations in line with state laws and board standards.

The role requires a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine with 5+ years in shelter medicine, a valid CA license and DEA registration, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine with at least 5 years of clinical experience (preferably in shelter medicine).
• Valid California Veterinary License and DEA license.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement veterinary medical protocols for all departments.
• Monitor health of the shelter population and contain contagious diseases.
• Mentor and supervise Veterinarians, staff and volunteers; conduct rounds.
• Maintain accurate animal medical records and treatment plans.
• Provide emergency medical care and anesthesia as needed.
• Perform surgical sterilization of dogs, cats and rabbits.
• Euthanize and/or assist with euthanasia per policy and law.
• Liaise with public and staff regarding veterinary care and concerns.
• Ensure licenses and permits are current; oversee continuing education.
