Job summary

Allied Universal is hiring a Part-Time Security Officer for a shelter location in Brooklyn, NY. You will provide customer service, monitor entrances, and patrol interior and exterior areas to deter incidents and ensure a welcoming environment for residents, visitors, and staff.

The role requires being 18+ for unarmed positions and 21+ for armed positions, with a high school diploma. Expect a background check and drug screen; licensing may be required by state/local law.

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to residents, visitors, staff, and/or service providers by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities at a shelter location.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of assigned interior and exterior areas, including building entrances, common areas, grounds, and perimeter, to help deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.
• Monitor access points; verify authorized entry as directed by site procedures; and report suspicious activity, unauthorized persons, and/or maintenance concerns to appropriate personnel.
• Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, following established post orders and escalation procedures.
• Prepare accurate reports and maintain activity logs for patrols, incidents, observations, and interactions with residents, visitors, and staff.
