Job summary

Animal Humane Society is seeking a Shelter Client Services Representative to warmly greet clients, coordinate animal care appointments, and handle paperwork and payments in a compassionate, efficient manner.

You will support the Vet Services team, maintain accurate records in PetPoint, and communicate across multiple systems to ensure a smooth experience for clients and their animals.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of customer service experience required.
  • Experience scheduling appointments and/or working at a reception desk preferred.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong administrative and process-management skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and problem-solve in a busy environment.
  • Comfortable learning and working across multiple computer systems.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft products.
  • Ability to remain compassionate and professional during sensitive interactions.

Responsibilities

  • Greet clients and create a professional, welcoming, and compassionate environment.
  • Coordinate and process appointments for animals entering AHS care.
  • Prepare paperwork and ensure required consent forms are completed before services.
  • Collect payments and schedule walk-in clients for stray animal or emergency appointments.
  • Answer incoming calls and return client messages.
  • Respond to client questions and elevate complex concerns when appropriate.
  • Partner with Veterinary Technicians to help clients understand available options following an animal's evaluation, including additional rehoming resources or humane euthanasia when an animal is not viable for adoption.
  • Assist the Vet Services team with moving animals from the incoming lobby to exam rooms.
  • Accurately monitor and update animal appointments in scheduling systems.
  • Maintain accurate animal records in PetPoint.
  • Use scheduling, timekeeping, email, and messaging systems to stay connected with your team.
  • Communicate positively and professionally with clients, employees, and volunteers.
  • Help foster an inclusive and welcoming environment for everyone who interacts with AHS.

Description

Help create a compassionate, supportive experience for people and animals during some of their most important (and sometimes most difficult) moments.

As a Shelter Client Services Representative at AHS, you'll be one of the first points of contact for clients bringing animals into our care. You'll coordinate appointments, welcome clients, process paperwork and payments, maintain accurate animal records, and help connect people with the information and resources they need.

Schedule

Full-Time, 32 hours/week

  • Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday
  • Shifts:
    • 7:45 AM - 4:15 PM &
    • 11:30 AM - 8:00 PM
  • Regular, predictable attendance and punctuality are required
  • Schedule may include evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Must attend regular team meetings and one-on-one meetings with your supervisor
  • May occasionally work at another AHS location based on department needs
  • May occasionally attend off-site meetings or events
  • Locations may include Coon Rapids, Golden Valley, and Woodbury
What You'll Do
Support Clients and Animals

Requirements
Experience

Physical and Emotional Requirements
  • Ability to remain seated at a desk for prolonged periods
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Comfortable working in an animal‑care environment that may include barking, noise, unpleasant odors, and exposure to cleaning chemicals
  • Comfortable with the emotional aspects of animal welfare and veterinary work, including humane euthanasia
  • Reliable transportation required
