Job summary

The City of Live Oak is seeking an experienced Animal Control Supervisor to lead the city’s animal control team, facility operations, and volunteers. You will respond to public concerns, manage licensing and adoptions, and ensure humane treatment and care of animals under state regulations.

You will oversee budgeting, inspection readiness, staff development, and coordination with rescue groups and city leadership to maintain high standards of animal welfare and public safety.

Responsibilities

• Manage operations of the Animal Control Facility, staff, and volunteers; enforce laws and regulations; develop policies; direct goals and standards.
• Prepare and manage the Animal Control budget and annual state inspections; maintain DEA registration for humane euthanasia.
• Assist shelter visitors with licensing, microchipping, adoptions, and return to owners.
• Oversee animal care, feeding, transport to clinics, vaccination administration, and microchip registration; maintain shelter cleanliness.
• Maintain animal control records and data systems; prepare reports for city management.
• Supervise officers; assign duties; monitor performance; conduct evaluations; ensure ongoing training and CE.
• Educate public on ordinances; issue citations, licenses, and tags.
• Maintain supplies and purchase equipment; monitor budget.
• Coordinate with rescue organizations and attend monthly meetings.
• Respond to complaints; set traps; investigate violations; humane euthanasia as needed.
• Apprehend and confine animals; remove deceased animals; ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
• Perform other duties as required.
