Job summary

City of Columbia SC is seeking a motivated clerk to support the Animal Services Department. The role includes greeting customers, answering calls, processing shelter intakes, maintaining records, and assisting with daily operations and coordination with health and environmental control partners.

Applicants should have a high school diploma, at least one year of relevant experience, SC Driver's license, and S.C. Humane Euthanasia certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• One (1) year of relevant prior experience.
• Valid South Carolina Class “D” Driver’s License.
• S.C. Humane Euthanasia certification.

Responsibilities

• Greets customers and assists visitors; answers the telephone and forwards calls as needed.
• Receives complaints and notifies appropriate personnel; maintains daily shelter records.
• Performs routine clerical duties including preparing forms, reports, and data entry; maintains inventory.
• Provides basic animal care and public education regarding ordinances; assists in adoption and redemption processes.
• Assists Veterinarian with medical care and daily care of animals; maintains medical records.
