Job summary

Duncan Aviation in Provo, UT is seeking a Sheetmetal Specialist to repair and alter sheet metal and composites in a clean, safe environment. The role involves fabricating, installing, and documenting parts in accordance with FAA requirements and Duncan data.

The position requires handling heavy parts, reading manuals, and ongoing training. Availability for shifts, travel within the United States, and to other countries is possible. Relocation and benefits are offered as part of the package.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Sheetmetal/aircraft fabrication experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Fabricates parts and assemblies from metal and composites per FAA documents.
• Installs fabricated parts and assemblies in specified aircraft locations.
• Disassembles and reassembles aircraft interiors and avionics bays as needed.
• Performs corrosion control processes and documents work performed.
• Maintains documentation for installations and removals per procedures.
• Keeps up with FAA knowledge and company reference manuals.
• Assists others and may travel for work assignments.

Job description

The Sheetmetal Specialist performs repairs and alterations to sheet metal and composites. Fabricates and installs aircraft parts and assemblies in accordance with FAA requirements, and Duncan Aviation generated data and approved procedures in a safe, clean and organized work area.

Essential Job Functions

1. With limited supervision, fabricates parts, assemblies and antenna doublers from metal stock, and composites using correct fasteners in accordance with FAA approved documents.
2. With limited supervision, installs new and fabricated parts, assemblies, and antenna doublers in specified aircraft locations in pressurized and non-pressurized aircraft. Works with senior technicians and Engineering team members to concurrently design installations as needed. Identifies locations for secondary avionics system components such as relays, terminal strips, terminal blocks, etc.
3. With limited supervision, disassembles and reassembles aircraft interior, instrument panels and avionics equipment bays prior to and/or following the installation of aircraft, using proper handling and storage techniques.
4. With limited supervision, performs appropriate corrosion control processes upon completion of parts and fixtures before installation.
5. With limited supervision, enters a description of work completed on the work order and other required paperwork, documents all removal and installation of aircraft parts and accessories according to Installation procedures, and maintains personal training log.
6. Demonstrates a knowledge and use of technical reference materials, i.e. aircraft technical manuals, parts catalogs, fabrication and specification manuals and AC43-13 1A/2A.
7. Maintains current industry, equipment and FAA knowledge by attending factory classes, OJT and by researching and reading technical documents, trade publications, FAR's, etc. Assists lesser experienced technicians in interpreting Company policies and the FAR's.
8. Available to work all department alternate shifts as needed, and able to accomplish road trips within the United States and also other countries as needed.
9. Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Job Specific Requirements

• Licenses/Certificates: Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving records; respirator fit eligible
• Attendance: Regularly scheduled attendance required
• Physical: Routinely lifts 50 lbs.; reads small print; repetitive motion; works with moving parts and vibration; works in confined spaces; works in heights above four feet; tolerates products and materials associated with component maintenance; tolerates standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing and sitting
• Environmental: Tolerates working in extreme temperatures and noisy environments

Education and Experience

Sheetmetal Specialist I:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• One year previous sheetmetal, aircraft structures, fabrication or related experience preferred

Sheetmetal Specialist II:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Two years previous sheetmetal, aircraft structures, fabrication or related experience required

Sheetmetal Specialist III:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Four years previous sheetmetal, aircraft structures, fabrication or related experience required
