Job summary

B&I Contractors, Inc. is seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Superintendent to guide multiple project sites and field teams in Florida. You will ensure safe, efficient installation, lead Foremen, and align schedules and budgets with project goals.

The role requires strong leadership, knowledge of HVAC duct systems and codes, and ability to collaborate with PMs, BIM, and clients to deliver high-quality workmanship while upholding safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 years field experience with supervisory duties.
  • Strong ability to read blueprints, specifications, and technical docs.
  • Deep knowledge of HVAC duct systems and applicable codes.
  • Proven leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with scheduling, reporting and field coordination tools.
  • Familiarity with SMACNA, Florida Building, NFPA codes, AHCA guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Foster culture of quality, safety, and teamwork across sites.
  • Supervise Foremen and field teams to meet schedules and budgets.
  • Review plans, specs, and submittals; approve material procurement.
  • Plan manpower and resources to maximize field productivity.
  • Conduct site visits; ensure safety compliance and quality workmanship.
  • Mentor Foremen through performance feedback and coaching.
  • Ensure accurate daily timekeeping, logs, safety docs, and forms.
  • Coordinate with BIM to validate shop drawings and constructability.
  • Develop project manpower projections with PM and Foremen.
  • Serve as liaison between project management, foremen, and client.
  • Monitor labor tracking and update progress with Foremen.
  • Attend weekly jobsite meetings; aim for in-person attendance.
  • Motivate team to maintain a safe and positive job-site environment.
  • Produce cost-to-complete reports monthly for stakeholders.

ROLE SUMMARY

The Sheetmetal Superintendent overseas and coordinates multiple project sites and field teams to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality installation and construction activities. This role provides leadership to Foremen and field personnel, ensuring schedules, budgets, and quality standards are met. The Superintendent acts as a liaison between project management and field operations to drive performance and maintain excellence in workmanship and safety.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Foster a culture of quality, integrity, safety, and teamwork.
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of Foremen and field teams across assigned projects to ensure adherence to project schedules, budgets, and company standards.
  • Interpret plans, specifications, and submittals; review and approve procurement of materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Plan and allocate manpower and resources to maximize field productivity and minimize project delays or conflicts.
  • Conduct regular project site visits to assess progress, safety compliance, and quality of work; identify and resolve issues proactively.
  • Evaluate and mentor Foremen and field staff through performance appraisals, feedback, and ongoing coaching to promote professional growth and accountability.
  • Ensure all assigned Foreman are completing accurate records including daily timekeeping, daily logs, safety documentation, and all other required forms.
  • Coordinate closely with the BIM team to validate the precision and constructability of finalized shop drawings.
  • Work with the PM & Foreman to develop project manpower projections.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between project management, foreman, and client representative.
  • Oversee the labor tracking process for assigned projects to ensure foreman are updating progress accurately and consistently.
  • Participate in jobsite meeting with project foreman on a weekly basis, aiming for in-person attendance whenever feasible (at least once every two weeks)
  • Uplift and motivate Forman and team members to promote healthy job-site environment and attitude.
  • Provide accurate cost to complete reports on monthly basis.
  • Monitor and coordinate equipment and material delivery dates with project managers based on jobsite schedules.
  • Provide approval for shop drawings in timely manner to CAD department and PMs.
  • Monitors look ahead schedules and identify risks early to avoid financial impacts
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum of 6 years of field experience, including at least four years in a supervisory or Foreman role.
  • Strong understanding of construction scheduling, Pull Plan, coordination, and manpower planning.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Comprehensive understanding of HVAC duct systems and applicable codes.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across trades and departments.
  • Proficiency in computer-based scheduling, reporting, and communication tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, project management software).
  • Strong understanding of SMACNA, FL Building, NFPA codes, FGI guidelines, and AHCA codes.
  • Ability to trouble shoot Test and Balance issues.
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License required.

This position requires the ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis. The employee must be able to perform tasks involving physical labor, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying materials, tools, or equipment. Manual material handling must be performed in accordance with OSHA safety standards and company policies to minimize risk of injury.
