Job summary

Modigent is seeking an entry-level Sheet Metal Installer I to assist in the installation, fabrication, and assembly of sheet metal ductwork on commercial projects. You will work under supervision to gain hands-on experience, training, and mentorship while contributing to safe, code-compliant systems nationwide.

The role emphasizes learning ductwork techniques, reading blueprints, and following SMACNA standards.

Qualifications

• 0–3 years in construction or related field; no HVAC/sheet metal experience required—mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required; trade school or vocational training in construction or metalwork a plus.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, work in confined spaces and at heights; PPE and OSHA rules are mandatory.
• Field-based in commercial/industrial settings with safety‑first culture and regional travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist fabrication, assembly, and installation of sheet metal ductwork and fittings per blueprints and SMACNA standards.
• Support layout, cutting, bending, and sealing of ductwork using hand and power tools.
• Perform site preparation, material handling, cleaning, and organization for safe workflow.
• Load/unload materials, transport equipment, and assist with rigging as directed.
• Participate in daily safety meetings, follow PPE requirements, and document basic work activities.
• Learn dry-side HVAC applications and sheet metal techniques through on‑the‑job training.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Assist in the fabrication, assembly, and installation of sheet metal ductwork, fittings, and accessories per blueprints, specifications, and SMACNA standards under direct supervision.
• Support layout, cutting, bending, and sealing of ductwork using appropriate hand and power tools.
• Perform general site preparation, cleanup, material handling, and organization to maintain a safe and efficient work area.
• Help load/unload materials, transport equipment, and assist with rigging/lifting tasks as directed.
• Participate in daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and hazard identification; follow all safety protocols and wear required PPE at all times.
• Document basic work activities, material usage, and time logs as instructed.
• Actively learn dry‑side HVAC applications, sheet metal techniques, and industry best practices through on‑the‑job training and mentorship.

Requirements/Qualifications

• Experience: 0–3 years in construction, labor, or related field; no prior HVAC/sheet metal experience required—strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn preferred.
• Education: High school diploma or GED required; trade school or vocational training in construction or metalwork a plus.
• Physical Demands: Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 lbs, climb ladders/scaffolding/stairs, work in confined spaces or at heights, bend/kneel/crouch, reach overhead, and use hand/power tools for extended periods; frequent standing, walking, and manual dexterity required.
• Work Environment/Safety: Primarily field‑based in commercial/industrial construction settings (indoor/outdoor, varying weather conditions, active job sites); exposure to noise, dust, heights, sharp materials, and mechanical hazards; must strictly adhere to OSHA regulations, conduct hazard identification, and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, harnesses, and steel‑toed boots at all times—safety is our top priority and non‑negotiable. Occasional regional travel within assigned market or on‑call rotations may be required as business needs dictate. This is a safety‑sensitive position.

Required Skills
