Job summary

POLYVANTIS is seeking a seasoned EHS leader for the Mount Vernon extrusion and coating facility in Indiana. You will drive Health, Safety, Environmental and Security initiatives, reporting to the Plant Manager and partnering with site leadership to sustain top-tier safety performance.

Role requires 5+ years in manufacturing, BS in Safety/Health or related field, and strong communication with internal teams and regulatory agencies. CSP preferred.

Qualifications

  • BS in Occupational Safety & Health or related field is required.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Certified Safety Professional is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in development and implementation of site Health & Safety initiatives.
  • Own Environmental reporting at the site, including IDEM and regulator filings.
  • Manage SPCC, RCRA and ISO 14001 processes at the site.
  • Drive safety culture, education and training across the site.
  • Lead incident investigations and support corporate sustainability efforts.
  • Collaborate with Medical Department on workers’ comp and fitness for duty.
  • Mentor Site Leadership Team and ensure alignment with other Polyvantis locations.
  • Perform regular field audits and data mining to identify areas of concern.

Position Overview

This position leads all Safety, Health, Environmental and Security initiatives at the Mount Vernon extrusion and coating facility. This position reports directly to the Plant Manager and is a critical member of the Site Leadership team. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in development and implementation of site initiative to drive Health & Safety performance.
  • Own and manage the Environmental reporting processes at the Site, including IDEM reporting against our FESOP air permit and other required regulator filings
  • Manage the Site SPCC, RCRA and ISO 14001 processes.
  • Own and drive implementation of Polyvantis Life Safety policies and procedures consistent with the Corporate rollout.
  • Key to this role will be to driving Culture, Compliance, Education and Training. Working closely with employees at all levels on regulatory requirements, driving/implementing/improving the Safety Culture per current initiatives and/or future initiatives.
  • Support Corporate Sustainability reporting and improvement efforts
  • Work closely with Medical Department on various cases, including worker’s comp, return to work fitness for duty.
  • Lead and/or assist in incident investigations or review incidents for thoroughness.
  • Lead, coach and mentor other members of the Site Leadership Team.
  • Create alignment and consistency between other Polyvantis locations
  • Make recommendations on Health & Safety practices.
  • Regularily perform audits in the field.
  • Perform applicable data mining and suggest ideas for areas of concern.
  • Participate/Lead Safety and Health and efforts during Unit or Site Outage
  • Ensure regular reporting of Near Misses and incidents and drive systems to ensure follow-up
Requirements
  • B.S. in Occupational Safety & Health or related science or engineering field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Certified Safety Professional preferred but not required.
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the company as well as external regulatory agencies.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, excellent interpersonal skills and experience implementing effective Health & Safety programs / improvements
Physical Requirements:

The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. Sitting, remaining in a seated position. Work Availability

Regular, predictable attendance is an essential function of this position. Applicants must be regularly available and willing to work Monday – Friday during assigned hours of operation. The role is also required to be available for calls off-hours and weekends as the facility operates 24/7.
