Job summary

Legacy Utility Group is seeking a SharePoint Administrator to manage and secure its Microsoft 365/SharePoint environment across the LUG entities, including NorCal Pipeline Services, Jaeger Vacuum Excavation, and ECS.

You will design site structures, enforce governance, train users, and develop automated workflows with Power Automate and Power Apps, while maintaining continuity and compliance across a geographically distributed team. Strong communication and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands-on SharePoint administration including SharePoint Online.
  • Experience with Power Automate and Power Apps preferred.

Job description

The SharePoint Administrator is responsible for the administration, security, and continuous improvement of Legacy Utility Group's SharePoint and Microsoft 365 environment across NorCal Pipeline Services, Jaeger Vacuum Excavation (JVac), Energy Construction Solutions (ECS), and Guardian Traffic Solutions. This role ensures that company information within the SharePoint environment is organized, access is properly controlled, and employees across all entities can find and share what they need with confidence. Additional responsibilities include user training, workflow automation, and information governance of SharePoint. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, service-minded, and comfortable supporting a geographically distributed, multi-entity organization. Essential Duties

Platform Administration & Security
  • Manage and design site collections, administer permissions, and security groups across all LUG entities.
  • Process and audit access requests, ensuring permissions align with role and business need.
  • Monitor the SharePoint environment for security risks and compliance gaps.
  • Maintain backup, recovery, and business continuity practices for SharePoint content.
Information Architecture & Governance
  • Design and maintain a logical site structure, naming conventions, and master pages, cascading style sheets (CSS), implement consistent branding across site pages, custom lists, document libraries, custom data views, automated e‑mail notifications,
  • Establish and enforce retention, archiving, and information governance policies.
  • Partner with department leads to ensure content stays organized as the company grows.
User Support & Training
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for SharePoint questions, issues, and access requests.
  • Troubleshoot functionality and access issues in a timely, service‑oriented manner.
  • Train employees and department leads on SharePoint best practices and platform features.
Integration & Automation
  • Lead the creation and maintenance of associated workflows and forms (e.g., Power Automate, Power Apps) that connect SharePoint to other business systems.
  • Leverage SharePoint to identify and automate manual processes to reduce administrative burden for the People and Operations teams.
  • Support integrations between SharePoint and other company platforms as needed including external databases, XML, web services, and REST services
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
  • Monitor site usage, storage, and adoption across departments and entities.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to keep the platform scalable and aligned with company needs.
  • Stay current on Microsoft 365 and SharePoint updates and evaluate their relevance to LUG.
Qualification Requirements
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience
  • 3+ years of hands‑on SharePoint administration experience, including SharePoint Online within Microsoft 365.
  • Experience with Power Automate and/or Power Apps, or strong aptitude to build automations with support is strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting a multi‑entity or multi‑location organization is a plus, particularly in construction, utility, or field‑services environments.
Required Skills
  • Working knowledge of permissions structures, security groups, and information governance principles.
  • Comfortable training and supporting non‑technical users across multiple business units and locations.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; able to bring structure to unstructured content.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the broader Microsoft 365 ecosystem.
  • High level of integrity and professional judgment with the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
