Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the District's physical education curriculum that promotes physical fitness, teamwork, and healthy lifestyles among students.
• Encourage students to participate in various physical activities to the best of their abilities and educate them on the importance of health and fitness.
• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with state standards and promote physical fitness.
• Prepare lesson plans that incorporate best practice instructional strategies in teaching physical fitness, health education, individual, and team sports.
• Use a variety of instructional resources and materials in planning engaging and differentiated activities that are structured to advance students' knowledge of health and physical fitness.
• Design a variety of student assessments that are aligned to the learning outcomes, using both formative and summative assessments to: Monitor student progress toward the learning outcomes; Evaluate each student's growth in physical skills, knowledge, and contribution in team sports; Adapt instruction for the whole class, individuals, or small groups of students.
• Promote positive and supportive relationships with students.
• Maximize the use of instructional time by: Establishing efficient classroom routines and procedures; Guiding instructional groups; Managing classroom transitions.
• Enhance the learning environment by: Arranging the classroom to support instruction and student activities; Ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all students during physical activities.
• Complete regular safety checks on equipment and field areas to ensure the overall safety of students.
• Actively assess student understanding during instruction, providing constructive feedback designed to inform students of their progress and how they can improve their skills.
• Reflect on instructional practices in order to improve teaching and student learning.
