Responsibilities

• Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and times designated.
• Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to students’ maturity and interests.
• Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request.
• Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Guides learning toward achievement of curriculum goals and communicates objectives to students.
• Employs various instructional techniques and media to meet diverse needs.
• Strives to implement the district’s philosophy and instructional goals.
• Assesses student progress and provides progress reports as required.
• Diagnoses learning disabilities and seeks district specialist assistance as needed.
• Maintains records as required by policy and regulation.
• Assists administration in enforcing policies and classroom rules.
• Makes provisions to be available to students and parents outside instructional hours.
• Plans and supervises assignments for instructional aides and volunteers and evaluates performance with department heads
• Maintains professional competence and attends staff meetings and committees
• Demonstrates willingness to communicate in more than one language at novice level
