Masa.Kanai, a Japanese salon on the Upper West Side with two locations, is seeking a Shampoo Assistant. The candidate should be fast-paced, adaptable, responsible, and professional, with shampoo experience for color services.

Weekend availability is preferred, and you may work at both locations. Responsibilities include assisting color tasks, maintaining salon cleanliness, serving drinks, and coordinating with front desk and stylists to ensure smooth operations.

Qualifications

• Experience with shampoos for color services.
• US Citizenship or Green Card/US Work Authorization
• Clean and stylish appearance
• Friendly and professional demeanor
• Cosmetology License (Preferred)

Responsabilités

• Guide customers to the stylists' stations.
• Shampoo and help blow dry.
• Provide deep conditioning treatments.
• Set up color tasks, assist color applications, and apply toner.

Job Description

Masa.Kanai is a Japanese salon in the upscale and peaceful area of the Upper West Side! We have two locations on the UWS - one on 73rd and Broadway, the other on 88th and Columbus.

We are looking for a skilled candidate to join our team as a Shampoo Assistant. Candidates must be fast-paced, adaptable, responsible, and professional. Experience with shampoo for color services is a must. We are flexible with scheduling, open to either part-time or full-time. Weekend availability would be heavily considered. You may work at both locations.

Responsibilities

• Help the stylists attend to their customers:
  • Guide customers to the stylists' stations
  • Shampoo and help blow dry
  • Provide deep conditioning treatments
  • Perform color tasks such as setting up, assisting color applications, and applying toner
• Maintain the cleanliness of the salon
• Ask and serve drinks
• Check the schedule and be prepared for the next guests
• Communicate between the front desk, the stylists, and other assistants to ensure everything is running smoothly
• Multitask between different stylists and several duties

Requirements

• Experience with shampoos for color services
• US Citizenship or Green Card/US Work Authorization

• Cosmetology License (Preferred)

Assistant Program

For those who are just stepping foot into the hair scene and are interested in growing with Masa.Kanai, we also offer a meticulous Assistant Program that will provide you with everything you need to blossom into a successful stylist! Classes are available one to three times a week with the projected timeline for debut being between one to three years depending on your own individual speed. Step-by-step, we will take you through:

• Shampoo Massages & Conditioning Treatments
• High-End Blow Outs & Styling
• Cuts of All Variety - Long Layers, Bobs, Pixies, Barbers, etc.
• Color Theory, Formulation, & Application
• Debut on the Floor!
